New Group Kathy J's Cancer Fighters - 3/18/2008 1:20 PM ( #1 )
I am asking for prayers on behalf of our niece, Kathy J, who found out this morning she is fighting endometrial cancer. I started a candle group for her, KJCF--Kathy J's Cancer Fighters--this morning. Please pray for her. She is a very special young lady. She is a single young lady that adopted five special needs children--ranging in age from 2 to 11. She is afraid for them, not herself, and knows what she is facing. Kathy lost her mom two years ago to ovarian cancer, so she knows all that fighting cancer entails. The good news is that the cancer is in the early stages. She will have surgery next week, and then have radiation and chemo treatment. Thank you for your support, and I will keep you informed of her progress. God bless you all!

Thank you, Juliana! Kathy is such a wonderful mother! She takes after her own mother, Peggy, who was a foster mother to more than 100 children. She is more worried about the children than herself, which is typical of Kathy. I admire Kathy so much, and feel truly blessed she is my niece. God bless you for your support!

Kathy told her children yesterday that she is fighting cancer. Only two of the children are able to really understand what it means. I would ask your prayers for all of her children, that they are at peace with what she has told them, and that they are not afraid. Thank you, and God bless!

Prayers and candles for your niece Kathy. She is an exceptional woman to take on 5 special needs children. What a wonderful, special mommy she must be. They are so fortunate to have found a loving, special Mommy.

God does answer prayers and the good news is that her cancer was found early. Early detection is a key factor in treating cancer. She has a great chance for survival.
Prayers & candles are on the way!
With Hope each of us can have a life with Peace, Faith and Love.

Dear Celtic Star, Jude, Juliana, and Vicky,
Thank you so much for your prayers for Kathy and my great-nieces and great-nephews. My oldest great-niece, age 11, is having a hard time dealing with Kathy's cancer. She remembers her grandmother's struggle two years ago against ovarian cancer, and is very afraid. She's been acting out the last couple of days and giving Kathy a hard time. Kathy understands why her daughter is acting this way, but it is emotionally draining for Kathy to have to deal with that on top of everything else.
On a positive note, we spent a lovely day together today to celebrate Easter. Everyone was able to draw strength from each other and have a "normal" holiday. We hid Easter Eggs inside--we had snow flurries and low temperatures here today! The two youngest were able to really participate in hunting eggs this year, and that was fun to watch. We'll have a day of laughter and fun to look back on in the days ahead.
Thank you again for your support!
God bless you all!

Dear Shirley,
I understand perfectly what you say about the 11 year old acting out. My 10 year old granddughter, who lives with me and her dad, does the same thing, not because her mum is ill, but because she can't be with her. Knowing the reason though, doesn't make it any easier to deal with and my heart goes out to Kathy. She needs all the support she can get.

Much Love, Jude

RE: New Group Kathy J's Cancer Fighters - 3/26/2008 8:34 PM ( #19 )
Just wanted to post and let you "Angels" know I went with my niece to the oncologist today. He saw a spot on my niece's cervix and did a cervical biopsy. He said quite plainly that he just wanted to check it out, but my niece is worried. Quite understandable, but I wish with all my heart she didn't have to deal with any of this! The hysterectomy surgery is scheduled for April 7th. That date seems too far away, but it will be here before we know it. Kathy also has a CAT scan next Tuesday, April 1st. I'm going to try to go to that appointment, too. They also did a CA-125 test, a tumor marker test. We get those results on Friday, hopefully. Thank you, all of you, for all your prayers on her behalf! Kathy is such a wonderful mother, and the kindest, sweetest person you could ever meet. I still feel so very positive about the outcome, that everything will be okay, but it is so hard to see her go through this. Thank you for listening, and for all the kindness you've shown to me, Kathy, her children, (and everyone on the forum!) God bless and keep you!

Thank you, Shirley, for the update! This is such a difficult time for Kathy and all who are concerned about her. Waiting periods can be so hard as I know from my recent experience with my husband. I'll keep Kathy, her children and you in my prayers!

Much love and warm hugs,
Edda
Peace and joy!
