Mary Ellen's recovery from transplant surgery - 9/12/2006 10:44 PM ( #1 )
A member of our Centering Prayer Group has donated a kidney to her friend Mary Ellen. We ask for prayers that she may do well and make a good recovery. We are grateful that so far things have gone well.

Hello Edda,
I wish Mary Ellen and her donor good health. My mother has been a kidney dialysis patient due to kidney failure since 1998. She is no longer a candidate for a transplant.
Sincerely,
Terry
I am forever grateful to you for enriching my life

Thank you, Terry, for you response. I am sorry to learn that your mother has to stay on dialysis. I know it is time-consuming and has its problems. My own father died of kidney failure before any of this was available. At least there are some possibilities now for which we are grateful.
Wishing you everything good, Edda
Peace and joy!

I have an uncle who was born with Alport's Disease. He has been put on sooooo many meds - they're starting to shut all his organs down. He also keeps having to have his stent for dialysis replaced. He finally told them to stop replacing it and let him die already. But he's still kicking. It isn't easy to watch him go through this. I know how you all feel. You're in my prayers.

Thank you for your prayers, they are appreciated. Once a friend told me that he was "held up by a carpet of prayers". We can do this for each other - weave in our special threads.

Hello i_heart_tinytim,

I wrote this for my mother. She had a particulary bad day in dialysis and it was thought she wouldn't make it to the end of the day. Thankfully, she survived that day, but there have been times since when she talks about giving up the dialysis.

Sincerely,
Terry

Take the Angel's Hand

When you are ready
Take the Angel's hand;
Feel the warmth
Like walking barefoot thro' the sand.
Let her take you down His garden path,
Smell the roses, hear the children laugh.
Let her guide you to the light,
No more darkness, no more night,
No more pain for your body to endure;
You had enough, that's for sure.
Follow her home for eternity waits,
Follow her thro' Heaven's open gates.
Feel the lightness all around;
As your feet leave the ground
Let your spirit float away
To rest in peace, for that we pray.
Go then to those who've gone before,
Take the Angel's hand thro' the open door.
-Terry Gorley-

Thank you, Edda. I'm sorry you lost your father to kidney failure.

Dialysis is a blessing and I suppose for some a curse as well. My mother complains (rightfully so) about the quality of her life. She has too many problems to do any travelling although dialysis is available elsewhere. She goes to dialysis Mon, Wed, & Fri.
She no longer feels well on those days.

Sometimes its the quality and not the quanitity of life that counts and that can only be decided by the individual.

Sincerely,
Terry

Thank you, Terry, for sharing your beautiful poem with us. I am glad your mother got better again. I'll light a candle for her. It is hard to let go of those we love.
Here is a poem I wrote for a very sick friend several years ago. She is at peace now.

TO A FRIEND

You are
in a place
onyour life's yourney,
where I haven't been,
uncharted territory
for those around you,
even though we
may have witnessed
the experience
of others along the way.

May the web
of prayers
and caring support you,
may the unbreakable
threads of grace
hold you up,
that surrounded
by love
you may continue
your journey
with courage and trust.

Every good wish to you, Edda
Peace and joy!

Terry, I hope your mother is doing well. Mary Ellen is making a good recovery. I want to thank you and all for your prayers. Her donor friend tells me that they feel the support of prayer and are very appreciative of it.
Are you writing more poetry? It is a way of praying!

Hello Edda,

I'm so happy to hear Mary Ellen is making a good recovery. My mother is holding her own. Other than being more tired there hasn't been a lot of change.
Thank you for asking about the poetry. I am still writing when the notion and time hits me!

Sincerely,
Terry

Edda, thanks for the update on Mary Ellen, it`s good to hear
that she is starting to complain, about things not related
to her kidney transplant!, God`s Blessings to you Mary Ellen
and your donor for a very speedy recovery.
