Dear Barbara,
Once again I have to say what a pure inspiration you are to me!
When in the midst of it all I find it very hard to still my mind to meditate or even pray.

I will light another candle for you today.

Re:something to think about... - 7/4/2009 3:42 AM ( #182 )
I found this morning and it made me question myself..

If Jesus Came To Your Home

If Jesus came to your home
to spend a day or two --
If He came unexpectedly,
I wonder what you'd do.

Oh, I know you'd give your nicest room
to such an honored Guest,
And all the food you'd serve Him
would be the very best,
And you would keep assuring Him
you're glad to have Him there --
That serving Him in your home
is joy beyond compare.

But when you see Him coming
would you meet Him at the door
With arms outstretched in welcome
to your Heavenly Visitor?

Or would you have to change your clothes
before you let Him in,
Or hide some magazines,
and put the Bible where they'd been?

Would you turn off the radio
and hope He hadn't heard,
And wish you hadn't uttered
that last, loud, hasty word?

Would you hide your worldly music
and put some hymn books out?
Could you let Jesus walk right in,
or would you rush about?

And I wonder -- if the Savior
spent a day or two with you,
Would you go right on doing
the things you always do?

Would you go right on saying
the things you always say?
Would life for you continue
as it does from day to day?

Would your family conversation
keep its usual pace,
And would you find it hard each meal
to say table grace?

Would you sing the songs you always sing,
and read the books you read,
And let Him know the things
on which your mind and spirit feed?

Would you take Jesus with you
everywhere you planned to go,
Or would you, maybe, change your plans
for just a day or so?

Would you be glad to have Him
meet your very closest friends,
Or would you hope they stay away
until His visit ends?

Would you be glad to have Him
stay forever on and on,
Or would you sigh with great relief
when He at last was gone?

It might be interesting to know the things
that you would do,
If Jesus came in person to spend some time with you.

Dear Sandra,

This poem is certainly worth some pondering. I think what the Buddha says sums up the content quite nicely:

If a man´s/ a woman´s  mind becomes pure, their surroundings will also become pure.

Let´s listen to our Inner Voice and follow it.

Love,
Juliana

Thank you, Sandra, for this thought-provoking poem.

I suppose ideally, if Jesus came to visit, I would not have to change anything!

Edda

Thank you, Edda, for saying this. Maybe I should have modified the saying of the Buddha to: If the mind IS pure, the surroundings ARE pure... As long as we follow our conscience, everything is alright!

We are learning, all of us... And absolutely no-one is perfect ! One thing is for sure: We are all LOVED!

Well Ladies without sounding evil I would have
to change a heck of a lot of things

Juliana without sounding as dim as I feel
right now..Forgive me but is anyone's mind
ever pure I actually don't think this is possible.

Well maybe it is across the pond but not in
my home not at all

Dear Sandra,

I think it all depends on what we call "pure". To me it is following our Inner Voice, our Conscience. Forming our character means life-long learning... Where there is life, there is change... Do feel loved, because you are!

Warmly,
Juliana

Oh gosh I see what you are saying now
maybe this is why you are a teacher and
I am not

and you asked do I feel loved?
yes I do by so many people
but the one person I am fighting with
no...
but that's ok as we are far away from each
other in spirit ,and I think we are out
of each others reach for now..

I will live I am living ..

Love to all from the girl who never stops questioning

Dear Sandra,
Of course, go on questioning, I think we all do... If we listen to our hearts they will answer a lot of our questions...

With Love,
Juliana

Angel in Uniform
This is a family story my father told me about his mother, my grandmother. In 1949, my father had just returned home from the war. On every American highway you could see the soldiers in uniform hitchhiking home to their families, as was the custom at that time in America. Sadly, the thrill of his reunion with his family was soon overshadowed.
My grandmother became very ill and had to be hospitalized. It was her kidneys, and the doctors told my father that she needed a blood transfusion immediately or she would not live through the night. The problem was that Grandmother’s blood type was AB-, a very rare type even today, but even harder to get then because there were no blood banks or air flights to ship blood.
All the family members were typed, but not one member was a match. So the doctors gave the family no hope; my grandmother was dying. My father left the hospital in tears to gather up all the family members, so that everyone would get a chance to tell Grandmother Good-bye.
As my father was driving down the highway, he passed a soldier in uniform hitchhiking home to his family. Deep in grief, my father had no inclination at that moment to do a good deed. Yet it was almost as if something outside himself pulled him to a stop, and he waited as the stranger climbed into the car.
My father was too upset to even ask the soldier his name, but the soldier noticed my father’s tears right away and inquired about them. Through his tears, my father told this stranger that his mother was lying in a hospital dying because the doctors had been unable to locate her blood type, AB-, and if they did not locate her blood type before nightfall, she would surely die.
It got very quiet in the car. Then this unidentified soldier extended his hand out to my father, palm up. Resting in the palm of his hand were the dog tags from around his neck. The blood type on the tags was AB-. The soldier told my father to turn the car around and get him to the hospital.
My grandmother lived until 1996, 47 years later, and to this day no one in the family knows this soldier’s name. But my father has often wondered, was he a soldier or an angel in uniform?

Must be a good day for pondering-- From an email I just received--
Thought For Today A story…

A well known Christian speaker was speaking to a large gathering and held up a €100 note. Then he asked who would like it and of course all hands went up. Then he said: “I will give this to you but first let me do this.” With that he crushed the note, dropped it to the ground, stamped it with his shoe and picked it up dirty and tattered. “Now who wants it?” he asked. Still the hands went into the air. He paused, put his hand up for silence and said: “My friends you have all learned a valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. Many times in our lives, we are crushed and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, not one of us will ever lose his or her value in God’s eyes. To God, whether dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, we are still God’s children and loved to bits. We are indeed priceless."

Yesterday is gone forever.Tomorrow may not come. Live Fully each moment today. Look for Good Things that Happen to you Every Day.

The Ant and the Contact Lens

Brenda was almost halfway to the top of the tremendous granite cliff. She was standing on a ledge where she was taking a breather during this, her first rock climb. As she rested there, the safety rope snapped against her eye and knocked out her contact lens.

'Great', she thought. 'Here I am on a rock ledge, hundreds of feet from the bottom and hundreds of feet to the top of this cliff, and now my sight is blurry.' She looked and looked, hoping that somehow it had landed on the ledge. But it just wasn't there.

She felt the panic rising in her, so she began praying. She prayed for calm, and she prayed that she may find her contact lens. When she got to the top, a friend examined her eye and her clothing for the lens, but it was not to be found. Although she was calm now that she was at the top, she was saddened because she could not clearly see across the range of mountains. She thought of the bible verse 'The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth.'

She thought, 'Lord, You can see all these mountains. You know every stone and leaf, and You know exactly where my contact lens is. Please help me.'

Later, when they had hiked down the trail to the bottom of the cliff they met another party of climbers just starting up the face of the cliff. One of them shouted out, 'Hey, you guys! Anybody lose a contact lens?'

Well, that would be startling enough, but you know why the climber saw it? An ant was moving slowly across a twig on the face of the rock, carrying it!

The story doesn't end there. Brenda's father is a cartoonist. When she told him the incredible story of the ant, the prayer, and the contact lens, he drew a cartoon of an ant lugging that contact lens with the caption, 'Lord, I don't know why You want me to carry this thing. I can't eat it, and it's awfully heavy. But if this is what You want me to do, I'll carry it for You.'

I think it would do all of us some good to say, 'God, I don't know why You want me to carry this load. I can see no good in it and it's awfully heavy. But, if You want me to carry it, I will.'

God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.
Yes, I do love GOD. He is my source of existence and my Savior. He keeps me functioning each and every day. Without Him, I am nothing, but with Him....I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. (Phil. 4:13)

Dear Barbara

what an amazing story it shows me just how 'powerful' prayer is.
I use to be so scared of the word power ,but now I am finding my own path of faith
(well trying) I think this type of power is very nourishing for me.

but with Him....I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

Yes I believe you can...we can!.

Thank you ladies for your wisdom it never goes unmissed not ever.

Re:something to think about... - 7/9/2009 3:17 PM ( #200 )
Well I am not sure where this post should be
but for me it gave me something to think about ..

I have taken many photo's of roses not sure if you
know this
anyway this rose I like so much and I always
have done...

I took this photo from a garden that is near to
where I work.

Yesterday I went for a walk with the children
I care for and I passed this garden again.
I noticed most of the roses were gone now
due to the rain

I was sad really as these roses were so beautiful.
I saw a man in the garden tending to the flower
bed.
I said hello to him and said that his roses were
some of the most beautiful roses that I had ever
seen.

He smiled at me and said' I lost my wife
5 years ago to cancer, and you are the first
person to say this to me since my wife'.
I said I was sorry to hear this and he smiled
and said 'she loved the garden and the roses
were her pride and joy.
I told him I could see why and the roses are
so full of her love I'm sure.

Do you know what he did next ...

There were three roses remaining and he cut
them off and handed them to me and said
thank you so much..

Well tears came to my eyes as I reached out
and took the roses from him.

What a pricless thing to do as I knew then
just how much these precious roses
mean to him...

The little one I care for said 'thank you for
giving Sandra these they are God's beauty'
Bless him my words sink in sometimes

Just thought I would share this as it really
touched me.I always knew these roses were
special but now for me they mean even more.

Here are the roses the kind and gentle man
gave me ,bless him so much...
