Received this this morning from Karin and thought it worth posting.

If you're going to be passionate about something, be passionate about learning. If you're going to fight something, fight for those in need. If you're going to question something, question authority. If you're going to lose something, lose your inhibitions. If you're going to gain something, gain respect and confidence. And if you're going to hate something, hate the false idea that you are not capable of your dreams. (Daniel Golston)

and the shadows fall behind you"

I recieved this this morning it made me think..

It is a mistake for anyone to think he has lived too long in his old, unsatisfactory ways to make
the great change. If you switch on the light in a dark room, it makes no difference how long it
was dark because the light will still shine. Be teachable. That is the whole secret.

Received from a dear friend this morning.

Take simplicity as your companion

O, how often have knowledge and wit
become as deadly to the wayfarer as any demon or bandit!
Most of those destined for Paradise are simple-minded,
so that they escape from the mischief of philosophy.
Strip yourself of useless learning and vanity,
so that every moment Divine mercy may descend upon you.
Cleverness is the opposite of humbleness and supplication:
give up cleverness and take simplicity as your companion.
Know that cleverness is a trap for victory and ambition:
why should the pure devotee wish to be clever?
The clever are content with an ingenious device;
the simple have left all artifice
to be at rest with the Artificer,
because at breakfast time a mother will have gathered
the little child's hands and feet in repose upon her breast.

Dear Betty, I LOVE that.
It reminds me of a very dear friend, now no longer with us, who was simplicity itself. She was very intelligent and had 4 very clever children, but her life was one of simple faith and love. A wise and loving mother and faithful and supportive wife. A VERY hard worker all her life, and with a strong religious faith. She suffered a lot with physical pains from a hard life, but always had a kind word and a loving touch. It was her simplicity of spirit and unstinting faith that really impressed me. I could never be like her in that way, and I don't think I would want to be, but it was always a joy to be with her. She taught me much.

My "Thought for today" 25th Sept

What good does love do if we are kind and good to some people and then scream at others? If we are impolite on the road, if we shove our way on the pavements, if we push our way onto an already crowded bus or train, we do not love. If we are rude to our staff, if we look with disdain on the poor, if we step over homeless people on the street, if we ignore elderly people who are struggling with their shopping, if we work only so that we look good, if we boast about our good deeds, we do not love. If we are nice and civil and polite with people we like and ignore or put down people we don't like, we do not love and we fail to see the interconnections between ourselves and others.

Autumn

O season of ripe beauty, you I greet!
Whose heart is love's calm wisdom at its throbbing core;
Your deep hues and myriad colors make the soul's wings beat
And lift a lover like me to your ambrosial shore.
Through you Nature weeps its precious golden tears,
In you a mortal eye could glimpse its native Immortality,
O endless fount of inspiration to the poet-seers
To be bound by your embrace is to be truly free!
A glad earth bathes in your benign and lustrous smile
And man's heart thrills with an unknown rapture and delight
By your whispers and footfalls and flute-call beguiled,
An ancient kinship links him to your celestial height.
A brimming of golden sweetness in your dreaming eyes
Fills the world with the beauty of a realm divine,
The sun's last rays serenely trickle from your purple skies:
I send my love and song and call your blessings mine.

Abhinabha

*I had to learn this one at school.....I only remember the first 2 lines now.

To Autumn

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
   Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
   With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees,
   And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
      To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
   With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
      For Summer has o’er-brimm’d their clammy cells.

Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?
   Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,
   Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;
Or on a half-reap’d furrow sound asleep,
   Drows’d with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
      Spares the next swath and all its twined flowers:
And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
   Steady thy laden head across a brook;
   Or by a cyder-press, with patient look,
      Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours.

Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?
   Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,—
While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,
   And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue;
Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn
   Among the river sallows, borne aloft
      Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;
And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;
   Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
   The red-breast whistles from a garden-croft;
      And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.
John Keats

thought for today.....

Energy
If you speak badly of others, the negative energy that you put out into the universe, will return to you. The same is true of positive energy.

A hard one to live up to!

Re:something to think about... - 10/9/2009 10:48 AM ( #259 )
Hi, Jude...

I read this sentence one more time now, and I am sorry, to go not go conform with it:

>If you speak badly of others, the negative energy that you put out into the universe, will return to you. The same is true of positive energy.<

I do not know, who created this sentence; in the first way, I would like to agree with it, but I never can.
There are coming up to many questions, and I think they will come up for you too!

I will show a little example:
Mrs. X lives with her daughter alone. This daughter has handycap to learn.
Every day Mrs. X and her daughter say hallo to their neighbours. Seems, they are still friendly. Maybe, the neighbour don´t know too much about this two..

But the neighbour never answers, ignore Mrs. X and her daughter.
In the background - we will call the neighbour Mrs. Y - Mrs. Y gossip around the neighbourhood...Maybe, in the way: what a poor woman, with THIS daugher; maybe: did you see how this woman dress her child, isn´t it terrible?, or: I can´t understand that this woman is quite taking this child (??? I´am not sure how to say it - maybe Edda can translate: Warum tut diese Frau das dem Kind an ...) why does she not bring this child into a special organization?... and so on...

In the meanwhile Mrs. X heard - from anywhere this gossip - but she goes on with her daughter are always kind... and the gossip w o r k s....

Mrs. X and her daughter didn´t make anything wrong, but people ARE like this too, more, than anybody "needs"...

And sorry, so I cannot believe in this statement, and life certainly show us, that we know how it s h o u l d be, but it also show us, that things are different.

Yes, many people try to be correct to other, they try to give love...

I gave this example, because there was a bad message in the medias just some days before (Germany), and nearly it was as I wrote in this example. (Mrs.X and daugher are dead because of suicide).
We all know such messages...

One of the reason, I am here is, because the world "outside" is more terrible I can bear; and one of the reason I am here is, because I m u s t find back to do not forget, what I am and to do not loose lane (???), and not to be what other people that  I h a v e  to be, I am also here, to remember, that there are not  o n l y  Mrs. Y`s/MR. Y´s. in this world.

In the "reality" some people have shown me, that I never can really trust again:

I just have one problem - isn´t it her reality too? because I don´t think, that this place here is just a "program"! ... and so, a little truth, lies in your words too

very thoughtful,
is.

If you want to know something about someone, listen to your heart.

Re:something to think about... - 10/9/2009 1:29 PM ( #260 )
Dear Isabella,

I think it all depends on our intent. We all judge ourselves, each other and our surroundings, every minute of the day. 'Horrible day, lovely day' etc. She is nice..he is horrible' etc. 'I look terrible, I am stupid/ugly/happy/sad' etc.

Everyone gets cross and upset by other people's behaviour. It doesn't mean we wish ourselves or that person any harm.

I believe, if we put negative statements out then negativity we will get back. Also, gossip and unkind thoughts and words do hurt others and ourselves.

Often we feel justified in feeling and saying negative things about other people. Perhaps they have done something really bad or unkind. Sending them kind thoughts and Blessing them does NOT mean we think what they have done is right, but I believe it does help us, and maybe even the person who has hurt us. We don't need to say anything to their face....just thinking it is enough. Prayer.

I don't know if you will understand this, but I think my Son can be very unkind sometimes, so I Bless him in his kindness.

But I really do believe that what we put out into the world will come back to us in some way. If we believe..so it will be. Maybe not quickly enough for us, or in the way we are expecting, but one day it will come back to us. It's the law of nature.

With Love and Blessings,
Jude
