Liliwings,Thank you for posting the pictures. I had received "Jasmine" as an email and didn't realize that the pictures would be disallowed if I
posted it on this forum.

Betty and Edda, 'twas my pleasure. Sorry that the group photo did not stick when I posted it.  We need to get velcro for our photos, I think

Sandra,  i am sooooooooo glad to see you posting !!!!  yayyyyyyy that made my day.  And I agree with what you said.  It does take a special person to be a mummy.  We can each be a mummy of the heart any time we chose.

This reminds me of a story.  Years ago a woman I know was going through a hard time. She went to a "nursing home" with the intention of finding  a grandma for herself. She became an attentive and  loving grandaughter to a woman who lived there.  And the woman was a wonderful grandma to the woman and her chidlren.  Relatives can be a condition one is born into. Family is a blessing from the heart.  Sending love and light and angels, liliwings

A very special thought for the day and reason for gratitude from James McSweeney's website "My Gift to You"

Thought For Today

‘If in these critical times we are living through - if the questions that are absolutely fundamental to the existence of life are not being asked, then we all suffocate on peripheral and trivial obsessions, abandoning and abdicating from the very purpose for which we exist.’ ~Mark Ballabon

It’s true we take a lot for granted. Our hearts beat an extraordinary 100,000 times a day. There are 100,000 miles of blood vessels in our body. There are 100 million light sensitive cells on the retina of our eyes. Our brains can make thousands of calculations in a second while only using the same amount of power as a 10 watt bulb. We can distinguish over 4000 smells and we can see stars that are million of miles away. In the middle of all these interesting statistics we have our own unique finger print and DNA print. Our bodies are truly extraordinary and yet we often trivialise much of what we do because we simply take so much for granted. Everything around us just doesn’t happen. We are part of God’s tapestry, God’s unique masterpiece. What a shame if we take it all for granted."

Truly thoughts for gratitude on how awesomely, wonderfully we are created.

Dear Betty,

Gosh we really do take so many things for granted. The human body
really is amazing isn't it.

Well I don't use as many brain cells as the 'normal' human but I still use way more than I think I use.

As for being part of  God’s tapestry,it reminded me of a post Sparrow popped in for Isabella. We are indeed part of his wonderful art work .

For me I do go blind and take many things for granted but then when all is calm I see again just how lucky and grateful I am.

Thank you

RE: something to think about... - 4/29/2009 5:46 AM ( #110 )
I can look at my life companion and see her wrinkles, gray hair, and less voluptuous body, or I can see in her all the happiness in the world, our younger years, our dreams, our efforts, our children, our present wisdom and serenity, the new being, mind, heart, and soul we form together.
*
How many wonderful sages there are among old people.
What life experience they represent.
The elderly should be our kings, our teachers, our masters.
Yet, we barely consult them.

To live is to search for truth
They have lived longest and are therefore closest to the truth.
My physical body may be less efficient and less beautiful in advanced age. But God has given me vast compensations: my mind is richer, my experience is wealthier, my soul is vaster, my wisdom is at its peak.

Dear Jude . . .
I once heard
that the reason our eyes grow dim and fuzzy as we get older
is so that when we look at our beloved
we will see him or her as young and as lovely
as the day we met
with love . . .

Tears are a river that take you somewhere.
Weeping creates a river around the little boat
carrying your soul-life.
Tears can lift that little boat off rocks,
off dry ground, carrying it downriver
to someplace new, someplace better.

Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés

Dear Betty just a quick question did you always believe this
or did it take time and many many tears to find this out...

I feel you do believe it though ..

Dear Jude,
it depends are we looking at him/her
with our eyes or with our heart

Dear Sandra,No, I did not always believe this. Crying was always something you were not "supposed" to do. Many, many years ago, I read
a spirituality book on "praying for the gift of tears. In the past several years, there has also been medical research done on the gift of tears and how beneficial they are for releasing the toxins in our bodies that cause stroke, heart attack, cancer, etc. Over the past couple of decades, even before the medical research was published, I learned the truth of the above quote and now never stop myself from crying whether they are tears of sorrow/sadness, tears of empathy, or tears of joy. Even Scripture tells us that when Jesus found Lazarus dead, He stood outside the tomb of Lazarus and wept.

Jude, Buba and Sparrow, I pray each day that I learn to look with my heart. It is so easy to destroy others when we only look with our eyes.

Blessings on your day,
Yesterday is gone forever.Tomorrow may not come. Live Fully each moment today. Look for Good Things that Happen to you Every Day.

Subject: written by Andy Rooney

ENLIGHTENED PERSPECTIVE

If you will take the time to read these. I promise you'll come away with an enlightened perspective. The subjects covered affect us all on a daily basis:

They're written by Andy Rooney , a man who has the gift of saying so much with so few words. Enjoy.......

I've learned.... That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.
I've learned.... That when you're in love, it shows.
I've learned.... That just one person saying to me, 'You've made my day!' makes my day.
I've learned.... That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.
I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being right.
I've learned.... That you should never say no to a gift from a child.
I've learned.... That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in some other way.
I've learned.... That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.
I've learned.... That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.
I've learned.... That simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult.
I've learned.... That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.
I've learned.... That we should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for.
I've learned.... That money doesn't buy class.
I've learned.... That it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.
I've learned... That under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.
I've learned.... That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.
I 've learned.... That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.
I've learned.... That love, not time, heals all wounds.
I've learned.... That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.
I've learned.... That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.
I've learned.... That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.
I've learned... That life is tough, but I'm tougher.
I've learned.... That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss. I've learned.... That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.
I've learned.... That I wish I could have told my Mom that I love her one more time before she passed away.
I've learned.... That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.
I've learned.... That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
I've learned.... That when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist, that you're hooked for life.
I've learned.... That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.
I've learned.... That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.
