This Sunday, an estimated 84 million mothers in this country will hopefully be reconnecting with their children - whether it's in person, over the phone, or in cyberspace.
Let's face it. The mother-child connection is the ultimate connection.
Just ask Sandy, who experienced an intriguing connection with her unborn child without even knowing it.
And that sickly, third-born child - who almost didn't make it into this world - had more to do with our book, "Connections: Everyone Happens for a Reason," than you might think.
To read Sandy's story (on page 153 in our book) visit our Connections blog here.

Speaking of unsung mothers, did you know that the driving force behind Mother’s Day was Anna Jarvis, who organized observances in Grafton, W.Va., and Philadelphia exactly 101 years ago this Sunday, May 10, 1908.
As the annual celebration became popular around the country, Jarvis asked members of Congress to set aside a day to honor mothers.
She finally succeeded in 1914, when Congress designated the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day.

Trustee Consciousness
We all have a relationship with everything. Obviously the relationship we have with the people and objects in our immediate vicinity is more intimate than the rest of the world. For most of us the most common relationship is possession. In our minds we think we own and possess things like cars and houses and carpets and golf clubs etc. This thinking easily spreads into jobs and tasks and positions and perhaps even other people. "I want you", and "You are mine alone", is the essence of many romantic film scripts and song lyrics. What we forget is that this relationship is wrong. It is not possible to possess anything. Care for..yes. Use...yes. But possess...no. You can't take it with you when you go, so we say! And yet it's the idea of possession which lies at the heart of all fear, war and conflict. Can you see it? Fear of loss, fear of not acquiring what we have already decided is ours in our minds. So what is a better relationship we can choose which takes all the fear away. Be a trustee. Everything comes to us in trust, for us to use and then to set it free. The consciousness of trustee sets us free of the tension of grasping and guarding. To see ourselves as trustees of everything that we receive, including our bodies, encourages our innate capacity to 'care for with dignity'. It is a much more relaxing way of relating to the things which we are privileged to receive in life.

Thinking is more than just conceiving ideas and drawing inferences;
thinking is also reflection and contemplation.

When we take embodied thinking
rather than abstract reasoning as a goal for our mind,
then we understand that
thinking is a transformative act.

The mind will not only deduce, speculate, and comprehend, but
it will also awaken, will,
enlighten and
inspire.

I received this story in my e-mail today:

This is a true story that happened in Japan.

In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan breaks open the wall. Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls. When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there because a nail from outside hammered into one of its feet. He sees this, feels pity, and at the same time curious, as when he checked the nail, it was nailed 10 years ago when the house was first built. What happened? The lizard has survived in such position for 10 years!!!!!!!!!!

In a dark wall partition for 10 years without moving, it is impossible and mind-boggling. Then he wondered how this lizard survived for 10 years!!! Without moving
a single step--since its foot was nailed! So he stopped his work and observed the lizard, what it has been doing, and what and how it has been eating.

Later, not knowing from where it came appears another lizard, with food in its mouth. Ah! He was stunned and touched deeply. For the lizard That was stuck by nail, another lizard has been feeding it for the past 10 years...

Imagine? it has been doing that untiringly for 10 long years, without giving up hope on its partner.

Think, will u do that to your partner?

Imagine what a small creature can do that a creature blessed with a brilliant mind can't.

As information and communication technology advances, our access to information becomes faster and faster. But the Distance between human beings . . . is it getting closer as well?

Please never abandon your loved ones

Never Say U R Busy When They Really Need You ...

You May Have The Entire World At Your Feet.....
But You Might Be The Only World To Them....

A Moment of negligence might break the very heart which loves you thru all odds..

Before you say something just remember…..

It takes a moment to Break but an entire life to make...
To Live Use Heart and to Survive use Brains.

Then Life would be a paradise Unfurling only Love Joy and Happiness

Peace and joy!

Re:something to think about... - 5/27/2009 12:53 AM ( #128 )
The magical love to our God given animals that cross our path... This is 'Faith' This dog was born on Christmas Eve in the year 2002. He was born with 3 legs - 2 healthy hind legs and 1 abnormal front leg which needed to be amputated. He of course could not walk when he was born. Even his mother did not want him. His first owner also did not think that he could survive. Therefore, he was thinking of 'putting him to sleep'. By this time, his present owner, Jude Stringfellow, met him and wanted to take care of him. She was determined to teach and train this dog to walk by himself.
Therefore she named him 'Faith'. In the beginning, she put Faith on a surfing board to let him feel the movements. Later she used peanut butter on a spoon as a lure and reward for him to stand up and jump around.
Even the other dog at home also helped to encourage him to walk. Amazingly, only after 6
months, like a miracle, Faith learned to balance on his 2 hind legs and jumped to move forward.
After further training in the snow, he now can walk like a human being.

Faith loves to walk around now. No matter where he goes, he just attracts all the people around him.
He is now becoming famous on the international scene. He has appeared on various newspapers and TV shows. There is even one book entitled 'With a little faith' being published about him. He was even considered to appear in one of Harry Potter movies. His present owner Jude Stringfellew has given up her teaching  post and plans to take him around the world to preach that even without a perfect
body, one can have a perfect soul.
In life there are always undesirable things. Perhaps one will feel better if one changes the point of view from another direction.
I hope this message will bring fresh new ways of thinking to everyone and that everyone can appreciate and be thankful for each beautiful day that follows.
Faith is the continual demonstration of the Strength of Life.

No need to spend endless hours, days, weeks searching for the rainbow.  Open your heart and your eyes to see and know you are the rainbow you seek.  Rejoyce in the beauty of the co-creation of you.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
------------------------------
Heart Song
Everyone has a song in their heart. Everyone has a reason for being here and a season for making their highest, greatest most auspicious contribution. No one knows what that is or when that is for anyone else. Only our own heart knows what and when it is for us. Your heart wants to sing. Don’t die with your music still within you. There is a reason for everything and a purpose to your life. Too many fail to listen to the song in their heart and therefore fail to find their purpose and their part. What makes your soul sing and your heart dance? Actually you heart is your soul and you are both! Ask this one question of yourself but don’t be in a hurry to answer it. Live in the question for a day, a week, a month. Let it invite your heart to speak to you. And when you are absolutely sure what your heart is saying is true then begin to invoke the changes necessary in your life so that you live in alignment with your song. Be patient with this.

Dear Edda . . .
I have somehow missed this thread,
and because of new posts
I found your story of the lizard.
It is to me a tireless meditation on the power of devotion--
not just in the human world.
Somehow we humans tend to elevate ourselves.
But as evident in this dear story
'we humans' do not necessarily get to 'take the trophy home'.
All of God's creatures have nobility within them,
and it would serve us humans well
to remember this with humility and love.

Liliwings dear . . .
Yes, I have 'seen' Faith
on several television programs.
He/she is a wonderful little dog
with a powerful story for all of us.
Why don't more of us take this to heart?

Thank you dear Jude,
for sharing this quote . . .
It is something I am going to keep in front of me
as I go about this day,
and will carry with me
even into the dark nights
which is where the answers might actually come
with love . . .

Re:something to think about... - 5/31/2009 9:49 AM ( #132 )
Since today is the feast of Pentecost in the Christian world, here is a story from "Today is My Gift to You."

A taxi driver arrives at an address. He honks his horn. No response. He honks again. Still no response. Out he gets and knocks on the door. A stressed voice cries out, ‘Just a minute, please.’ After a long pause he hears something being dragged to the door. A frail old woman in her 80’s opens the door pulling a suitcase after her. ‘Would you carry my case to the car, please?’ she asks. ‘Sure,’ he says, and as he moves off she links his free arm and walks slowly with him to the taxi.

She gives him an address and asks him to go through the city centre. ‘It’s not the shortest way, Ma’am,’ he says to her. ‘I don’t mind,’ she replies, ‘I’m going to a hospice. There’s no hurry.’ He looks in the rear-view mirror, and sees tears in her eyes as she reveals, ‘I’ve no family left. The doctor says I haven’t long to go.’ As she says that the driver leans over and quietly switches off the metre.

They drive around the city centre. She points out where she had worked in an insurance office, where she and her husband had lived after their wedding, and a building that once was a ballroom where she had first met him. At one or two places they stop in silence – her mind elsewhere. Much later they reach the hospice. The taxi driver goes home lost in thought, convinced and content that he has just had one of the most important days of his life. Pentecost means using the language of love.

Yesterday is gone forever.Tomorrow may not come. Live Fully each moment today. Look for Good Things that Happen to you Every Day.

Thank you Betty,  Thats a wonderful story.  Not to get cerebral about it, I have heard that when we do something good for another, like this, the feeling is that of truely being connected to soul and spirit, which is connected to pure divine, the holy one, source, God.  I cannot think of anything better in life than giving and receiving from the soul and spirit.  Thank you.

may the feast of the pentecost be experienced in each and every day... and moment.  Liliwings
