Thanks Sparrow, I was a bit concerned, after I thought about the post. I was concerned that someone would come in and think I was against religion.  And that is not the case at all.  All structure, including alternative spiritual teachings, can be used for wrong purpose.  It is part of the human condition.  I know many people who have much more faith than I.  And are devoted members of different religious communities.  I wish I had more of their faith.  But my path is different.

Sparrow, your words always seem to be so impeccable.  The people here who I have encountered are amazingly loving, giving, inspiring and insightful.  Its pretty amazing.  Thank you for who you are.  Thank you for the bounty of your gifts.  Thank you.

Dear liliwings . . .
Here is a lullabye for your morning . . .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ESHjYat9rk&feature=related

Morning has broken, like the first morning.
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird.
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning,
Praise for them springing fresh from the Word.

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlight from heaven.
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetnes of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass.

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning.
Born of the one light Eden saw play.
Praise with elation, praise every morning;
God's recreation of the new day.

Morning has broken, like the first morning.
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird.
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning,
Praise for them springing fresh from the Word.

Sparrow!!!!!!!!!! You have hit on my favourite hymn....and my favourite man singing it. I fell in love with the hymn when in primary school and was overjoyed when Cat Stevens recorded it.

thank you,
Jude

Sparrow, it is 1:49 in the morning here and I just saw the cat stevens song that you posted the link for and words to.  Thank you. Beautifull words, arent they.  And I have alway liked the tune.  While I have been familiar with the song,  I never really heard all of the lyrics.  I am more someone who pays attention to the melodies.  Here is a secret.  I used to play piano professionally.  Cocktail jazz.  Playing music and writing poetry kept me alive as a child.  Maybe until I was 20 years old.  I could not be without it.

Sparrow, it is a true honor to share space with you here. To be honest with you, its a true honor to share space with everyone here.  I feel totally blessed.   Sending love light & music.  And may you dance, liliwings

Dear Jude . . .
I didn't realize that Cat Stevens did not write the words,
thank you . . .
I never heard this song until he recorded it,
and never knew its history . . .
Goodness dear liliwings, do you still play?
I believe that poetry is transcendent,
and of great importance to us as 'beings'.
It is sad that it gets so little attention these days
as its value is immeasurable.
I think this culture has, in the name of agressive growth and expansion
put poetry in the closet and shut the door
in an attempt to deny it.
As our hearts return to source
perhaps it will rise again
with love . . .
sparrow
ps. It is an honour for me to share space here as well.
I have never felt so blessed.
This is truth.

Jude, I agree, Sparrows posts are poetic.  And your posts are thoughtful, often funny and inspiring.
Sparrow, I feel that the arts in general are not supported or respected. I personally believe that it is because they are so powerful.  Because they connect us to our own power and creation.  Creative = creation.  I think that we, as a society, are reclaiming our power.  And as we do that, poetry, music, the arts will re emerge for the power they are.

I believe that the creative process is a co-creation.  If we are kept from creating, we are kept seperate from much of our power, and the connection to source.  I do not play the piano as much as I did.  I stopped writing when I was 20 years old.  It is when I found that I did not need to write.  I hope someday I will need to write again.  And I stopped playing the piano when I was about 39 years old.  Although I still can make people cry when I play .  I made someone cry by playing a song just one week ago.  My favorites to play are christmas songs and somewhere over the rainbow.  I have always played with great love, even as a child. I always wanted to  have a beautiful singing voice.  It was never good.  Alas, as each year passed, a larger group of frogs seemed to convene in my vocal cords.  In short, There are some things in a lifetime we just cannot have.  Alas, for me it is a good voice for singing.

Sparrow, you are so insightful and connected to the light.  I can see it in all that you say.  Yes, you are human and subject to the human emotions, fears etc.   I would never want you to feel that you needed to hide that when, and if, you are not feeling so poetic and connected.  In these 10 days I have been coming here, what I read you saying is so genuine, loving and connected.  I thank you for that.  Sending love, light and happiness to you all  in this only moment,  lili

Jude dear . . .
You know, I think there is poetry in all of us.
Look back over the posts
and you tell me if you don't find poetry in just about every one of them?
Especially when someone speaks from the heart place . . .
There is poetry all around us . . . everywhere . . .
in humor and in love and in happiness and in pain . . .
I have a friend whose life is her poem.
It would take me too long to explain it all to you,
but I will tell you a little story.
She lived upstairs in this beautiful Victorian house,
in a large apartment hardwood floors and high ceilings.
On the last day she spread an antique quilt and a cushion on the bare floor,
placed a plain wooden chair and a music stand in the empty room,
near one of the tall windows looking out into the afternoon sun,
and invited me up to share a 'goodbye' to her stay in that apartment.
My friend stood in front of the chair and very simply,
sang for me an aria from Puccini in her clear, strong voice
I sat on the quilt and wept at the sheer beauty of the gift.
In a nutshell, that is the poetry of my friend's life.
She lives all of her life that way,
with that kind of intention.
Dear lili . . .
(no 'wings' today?)
I think of you now as I tell Jude the story of my friend,
and am not surprised at all that you can make someone weep with your playing.
The arts I agree are what connects us to the music of the spheres.
Your music is your poetry and your voice . . .
and I'm sure that you have more than frogs in your vocal chords,
which now makes me think of my mother
who called the doctor for an appointment.
When he asked her what the problem was,
she said, "I have a frog in my throat."
To which the doctor replied, "you don't need a doctor, Mrs. Allen,
you need a vet."
True story. I promise.
with love . . .

Dear Sparrow,
thank you for that delicious story. I agree poetry is all around us, but you do have a natural poetic flow to your writing which is lovely. I love to write, and I write poems, but my 'normal' every day efforts can't be described as poetic...I don't think. Not that I mind! This is what I was saying, about me being rooted in the earth, with all its' sensible, cautious, nurturing nature. A little more 'air' would help with the poetry.
Lilli I used to sing too.....until I had my tonsils out, since when the frogs have taken over. I always wanted to play the piano, but alas never had the opportunity to learn. I play (one hand) occasionally on my piano keyboard, which I treated myself to recently. (can anyone explain why I can no longer type myself correctly? It always ends up as myslef My left brain not knowing what my right brain is doing maybe?

Sparrow,

I like both your stories, in one the beautiful gift of musci, in the other the doctor's sense of humor! Thank you!

Jude,
My letters get scrambled quite often. Perhaps we are typing too fast, or thinking faster than the fingers can move??

Edda
Peace and joy!

Oh Sparrow two great stories!!!  the first one was awe inspiring.  The second made me laugh.  the doc had a sense of hue more.  Sparrow, I want to say that we recognize in the world only what we have within ourelves.  this is how you can see poetry in all the words posted here.  You live poetic, I do believe.  Thank you for the wonderful stories.  Here's to the creative in us all.  With light and love and fluttery wings, liliwings

The Wind . . .

I listen to the wind
To the wind of my soul
Where I'll end up well I think
Only God really knows

I've sat upon the setting sun
But never, never, never, never, never
I never wanted water once
No, never, never, never

I listen to my words but
They fall far below
I let my music take me where
My heart wants to go

I swam upon the devil's lake
But never, never, never, never
I'll never make the same mistake
No, never, never, never

Dear Barbara . . .
Oh yes . . .
This song was new at the time my first child died.
When I hear it now
I feel the pain of it all so terribly,
but I also feel held by a Power greater than grief,
and the tears that run down my cheeks
are tears of beauty and grace and compassion
for myself, and for my lost love . . .
and all is forgiven . . .
all the pain and the loneliness and despair.
I feel washed in an inexplicable ocean of exquisite love

Sail on silvergirl,
Sail on by.
Your time has come to shine.
All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine.
If you need a friend
Im sailing right behind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.

My mind and heart are eased
with love . . .
