Something to smile - maybe: My visitor - 12/7/2008 2:49 PM ( #1 )
A little mouse came into my home,
seemed, it wouldn´t like, that I´m alone.
Set down, a short time, near me,
I didn`t worry, didn´t shiver, with my knee...
I looked down, to this little mouse,
asked without words:
Why did you come, into my house?
This little mouse,
with the smart eyes,
can this be, a small, small price?
I wanted to catch it,
to let it free,
because I know,
I would like it to be!
It made a little, little shout,
I swore, in my ear, it wasn´t so loud.
An than, my look was a second not
there,
in that moment, it was away,
I hope, me, or someoneelse,
will take of it care.

Na ja, d a s reimt sich zwar in meinen Ohren, .... ich hoffe ...

(maybe it came in, when I came into my flat; I´ve seen it often in our house - some appartements have a little garden too...).
I am not afraid of these comical (?) creatures

love, I.

Dear Isabella . . .
Your poem made me smile . . .
when I was a child I had a book of poetry.
Yours reminded me of this poem . . .

Mice - by Rose Fyleman

I think mice
are rather nice.
Their tails are long,
Their faces small,
They haven't any
Chins at all.

Their ears are pink,
Their teeth are white.
They run around
The house at night.

They nibble things
They shouldn't touch
And no one seems
To like them much.

But I think mice
are nice.

Isabella and Sparrow, I love mice too, but have them running about (at least I hope they are mice! ) in my loft space.
Do you think I should put the cat up there?

Isabella, Sparrow and Jude,

I feel a bit ashamed now as I have to admit I do NOT like mice! When I still had my old roof they used to come in over the loft. Whenever a slight scratching woke me at night, I would take my bedclothes and change rooms, leaving a trap in my bedroom... I just find it uncanny to share a room with a mouse ! Since the roof has been changed, I fortunately have not had visitors of this kind any more .

Not everybode must love mice;)
The best thing, to get them out is:
Set one or two guinnee pigs into the room you think there is a mouse and she will look of another place (they don´t like the sound of guinea pigs..) it was easy, when we had an invasion some years ago in our house in the oountry...

And I like chocolate mice too, hm:)

good night and bye for now, its time to go to sleep, four hours more and I have to stand up...
(and couldn´t sleep again:(  )

love, I.

Dear Isabella,

While I was baking and then cleaning up the kitchen I missed all the fun with mice!
I could have used a few for a while to find all the crumbs!

My father's nickname for me was "Mausi", meaning little mouse. I used to sign my letters to him with a mouse drawing!

By the time you read this I hope you had a few hours of good rest!

Much love,
Edda
Peace and joy!

Dear Mausi . . . what a wonderful story. I was a mouse once myself! I hope the cookies are all finished.
Juliana and Jude . . . you might try Isabella's remedy before resorting to cats .
with love . . .

Isabella, I am glad your cat does not like mice! Some well-fed cats may bring live mice into the house! They seem to think that they are bringing a special gift!

Edda, my cats bring me many live 'gifts.'  I've tried to save them many times too. I think one of my female cats thinks I need to learn how to kill my own food!!

Yes, I like mice, they are very beautiful little creatures, but I'm worried about what they may be doing in my loft. I'm not going to put the cat up there though.

I loved your poem Isabella. Once, I saw a tiny doormouse, it was sat on a leaf at a big house we had gone to see, and it was cleaning itself. It did not seem to mind me marvelling at it, it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen, and so very tiny.
A few months back I did find mouse droppings in my kitchen and I cleaned out everything, including some wool that I was going to sin that I had kept. I know wool is a strange thing to keep in the kitchen, but I have a tiny bit of storage space there...
I am relieved that that seemed to be that really, the mouse / mice must have been in the wool I think or other bits lilke craftwork papers that I put out, as I havent found any droppings since.  I think mice are nice, too but I cant cope with one at home! (Mind you it didn't bother Cinderella...)
love and light
and yes, all things do deserve to live dont they.
