Hi Sandra, I live in Cheshire, just over the border from Wales, Jude is very close to Wales too, but I think it may be South Wales that she is closer too.

Greetings,

Ah, Mikkel . . . now this message board is getting close to home, because I joined a week before you and I'm in Norfolk too.

Do the postings on this board imply that there's a wish to start a UK group, I wonder? Or do we (with the exception of Mikkel and me, of course) live too far away from each other?

All responses and ideas welcome :)

Ah well, it's a month now since I asked whether there was any interest in the idea of starting a UK group, so I guess that there isn't?

Hi there,
just popping in to say hello to you people in the UK. I am German but have been living in New Zealand for the last seven years.
I am fond of England too in many ways. (I really like the humour! Bill Bailey, Ricky Gervais and the like.)
If you pass by in NZ, come in for a cuppa.
Cheers, Iris

Welcome Carol, over there in Kent! I'm on the borders of England and Wales, and like Sandra have a bit of frost, but no snow, although I saw a small flake or two coming out of a clear blue sky about an hour ago, so I guess we will have some soon. My Sister lives in East Sussex and has just rung me to say she's snowed-in!

I'm interested in all the subjects you mention in your profile, so look forward to hearing from you again.

Blessings,
Jude

Hello everyone here,

I'm Hilary, new to this site, and I live in Wales not far from the border with England. I'm currently in Pontypool, but hope to move this summer insh'allah (as my daughter would say - she's a Muslim) to the Abergavenny area.

I work from home, teaching creative writing for the Open University on-line, and I'm grateful for the freedom this work gives me, but only too aware of how easy it is to get distracted once my computer is switched on!!  One of my Lenten resolutions is to try to be a bit more organised with my time!  But I do love the Gratefulness website and have decided to join as it would be good to have some contact with like-minded folk in this neck of the woods, namely Britain.

Hope to hear from some of you soon,

Hilary

I know the feeling!Time disappears somehow.

Welcome to the Forum Hilary. I live very near to you! I hope you find somewhere lovely in the Abergavenny area....beautiful countryside. (as a child I used to pronounce it Averbagenny!!)

I hope we shall see you often on the forum.

Blessings,
Jude

Hi Jude,

Thanks for your warm message!  It's good to know you're not too far away.  I like your version of Abergavenny!  It is indeed a very nice old-fashioned town and a lovely area.  I have friends nearby and my fiance is living there temporarily until I sell this house and we find a place together, this summer I hope.  This amazing love, after years of struggle and grief when my husband was ill and after he died in 2007, is one of the reasons I'm on this site - I am just brimming over with gratefulness for many new blessings in my life.

It's snowing hard here in Pontypool, and settling.  I hope my car doesn't get snowed in again! It was stuck for over two weeks last month...

I do need to get on with some work now, but have been enjoying browsing this site during my midday 'break' - that's already gone on too long!

I hope you and the cats are keeping warm.

Bright blessings,

Hilary

Dear Hilary,
The snow is coming down as rain here......only less than 20 miles from you I should think. Amazing isn't it?

You warm my heart the way you describe your new love. I am so happy for you.
My husband left me 12 years ago and I found love 2 years later. However, it hasn't been plain sailing as it was me who fell head over heels. We have had a 'allways friends/sometimes lovers' relationship ever since. Very stressful believe me!

I have 2 grown children. My daughter has been married an unbelievable 21 years....most of them unhappy. I wish courage for her to do the right thing for herself. They have one 16 year old son. My Son lives with me together with his 12 year old daughter. That has been stormy (between us) and he is currently out of work with a huge mortgage which he took out to buy out his dad and convert the loft. It is breaking my heart that we are most likely going to have to move out. I love where I live and can't imagine living anywhere else, but there was a family tragedy 2 weeks ago, when my nephew killed himself, and it's made me re-evaluate what is important. Life is hard, I'm sure you will agree.

I have had up to 8 cats in the past (since my husband left) but am down to 3 geriatric cats and a geriatric dog!!
Although not working, I have become a Spiritual Healer (not the spiritualist church) and have the odd client.

I'm glad you found the Gratefulness website. It has certainly been a life-saver for me.

Blessings,
Jude
