Dear Charlotte . . . I have followed the link provided in your profile, and have read about the horrible, horrible death of little Baby Peter. My heart breaks for his story. There is a terrible sickness in a world where this kind of thing happens. I believe that precious Baby P is safe in a place where no one can hurt him. I light a candle in his memory with much love and tenderness in my heart for him . . . sparrow

Dear Charlotte, I, too, would like to welcome you to the forum! It is sickening to hear about a child so cruelly abused by those who should nurture him. Try as I may, it is hard to imagine what goes through the mind of a mother who abuses her own child. I wonder how she grew up, what abuse she likely experienced that led to her actions. I will light a candle in memory of Baby P Much love, Edda

I think the saddest thing about this story is the fact that there are, have been and will be many, many more baby Ps. Recently I have read several books written by people abused as children, and one book in particular stands out because social services knew what was happening, and they even took this particular child in the book away for one year into foster care, where he began to heal and grow strong again. Then, when he was happy with loving foster parents, new friends, doing well at school, he was forced to go back to his abusive parents, who carried on where they had left off. It was a harrowing and eye-opening book. We are all responsible for these children and we all fail them, either by not knowing about them, not reporting the abuse and turning a blind eye, or not doing enough to change things for future children. I couldn't watch the news reports of this baby, and am ashamed for it. He and all the others do deserve better from us all. Jude

I don't know what to say, that poor baby. I just can't understand why people do this and how can they live with themselves? How can a parent do or allow it to be done to their child? I am lighting a candle in his memory. He endured so much.

Dear Charlotte, welcome to the forum. I think that it's so horrible what people do to kids. Child abuse seems to be on the rise. I think that more should be done to keep kids safe. My heart goes out to baby p and all the other children who have suffered. I will light a candle for him and all the other children.

ORIGINAL: buttington Dear Charlotte, Welcome to the Forum. I've put the link below, but perhaps you would like to say a bit about baby P as some here may not know about him. Blessings, Jude http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=BabyP hi. I apologize for not writing more about BabyP. his name was Peter. he was systematically, regularly and horribly abused by his mother, her lover, and a lodger. the abuse defies comprehension. it was so awful I can barely even type this. you can Google "BabyP" or read a little on my Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/RememberBabyP or on another person's site on Facebook, which goes into detail about what happened to him. I'm sorry I can't post more about it ;_;

Thank you Charlotte. I'm sorry it upset you to write the post, but as some of us are from different parts of the world I thought maybe the news of this infant might be limited to Britain. Blessings, Jude
