a prayer for my fiance - 3/18/2007 11:59 PM ( #1 )
I found this forum and site through a bereavement group, and want to say that it is very comforting to me. My fiance Patrick passed away last May 3, and I am still grieving intensely. I miss him so much and always will. I found this prayer yesterday:

"The Shield" prayer attributed to St. Patrick

I bind unto myself today
The virtues of the star lit heaven
The glorious sun's life giving ray
The whiteness of the moon at even
The flashing of the lightning free
The whirling wind's tempestuous shocks
The stable earth, the deep salt sea
Around the old eternal rocks.

Luba;

It's not easy being a friend but time will heal the loss, you are doing the right things.

You may have lost an acquantance but you didn't lose the friend.
You may have lost a body but you didn't lose the soul.
You may have endured what you hoped would never happen.
But the dearest thing of all is the love you keep inside,
That will surely rekindle as you make your way along.
Remember the times, the good and the bad.
For it is with these that you build your castle
That will shine for all eternity and make your dreams come true.

my best wishes go out to you,
"We must be the change we want to see in this world."

Please light a Candle in the "zendo"

Dear Luba, welcome to the forum. I am so very sorry for your loss. I cannot improve on Richard's words above. I hope you will find comfort here among so many who mourn their own losses. I'll light a candle for you and Patrick under "ALL" and keep you in my prayers.

Wishing you everything good,
Edda
Peace and joy!

thank you Marie, and everyone. I know that Patrick can see the glow of the candles lit for him.

When he smiled, his dimples would show, and I know he is somewhere smiling now...

Yes Edda,

The power of prayer and positive thought is an amazing thing. Since I have started coming here, reading, and lighting candles, I have begun to let go of my pain.

thank you again.
