Playing in Photoshop.... I don't know how grateful I would be if Sunny really did appear like this!!! I might think he's been irradiated.

I love cats. I had one for years. His name was Hercules. He was big and black... and had been born in one of my shoes. I think that's why he thought I was his mom. He used to sleep on my pillow, around my head, and massage my head with his paws (he wanted milk). He even sucked my earlobes! He loved lying on the TV set (because it was warm), but sometimes his tail or a paw would dangle and hide part of the picture... Now, I'm allergic. No more cats. Cats love me, they follow me on the sidewalk...

Dear Line, Thank you for the lovely stories about Hercules. I'm really sorry you are allergic to cats as it sounds as though you have a natural affinity. I had a cat called Timmy who used to like sleeping by my head on the pillow with his nose in my hair. With Love, Jude

Dear Jude . . . Sunny obviously has an electric personality! I loved your story of Hercules, Line, and am sorry to hear you are now allergic. I don't know what I would do if this happened to me . . . cats sweeten my life. ♥

In our local paper this week is yet another elderly person who loves cats and takes in too many. Neighbours have complained and now he has an ultimatum to get rid of all but two of his cats or lose his home. He only has twelve cats now, but still he is being harrassed. Goodness me, you would think they were dangerous barking dogs, drug addicts or violent criminals......but eight cats?! They are all neutered and well looked after. These people who truly love animals, should be supported. Even the ones who get so overwhelmed by their motivation to save strays that their homes become rubbish tips and their animals neglected, not because they don't care, but because they care too much. Like me, John's cats are his family, and he has said he would rather lose his home than his cats. It's all so sad and unnecessary. The same thing happened many years ago to my aunt Nancy, who took in stray cats which seemed to gravitate to her because she loved them. Soon she had about 24 and her landlord got an order for them all to be destroyed. It broke her heart. I'm lighting a candle for John whose ultimatum ends today. I'm hoping that people will open their hearts. In the same paper was an article by a cat protection society which was saying that people just won't take on black cats because they are not pretty enough.............people are strange. Jude

Dear Jude, I am sorry that John is ordered to give up his cats. It is hard to see, if they are well kept and there is no odor emanating from the house, why they should disturb anyone, other than perhaps an ordinance which doesn't take all aspects into account. I hope his cats will find loving homes if he has to give them up! I am surprised that some people don't like black cats. Three of my neighbor's four cats are black! Two sisters are extremely shy, but King Arthur, a black coon cat, is the exact opposite. He is the most lap-loving cat I have ever met! I'll light a candle for John! Love, Edda

Dear Jude . . . I am so sorry to hear this sad story, and hope that someone intercedes on John's behalf. It is because of these kinds of things that the world sometimes seems a cold and uncaring place. Like Edda, I will light a candle for this man and his gentle spirit with love . . . sparrow

A local man with an animal sactuary (which includes camels!) has offered a home to 10 of John's 12 cats, where John can visit and look after them. Not ideal, but better than hoped for. Jude

Dear Jude . . . I am so happy that a solution was found for John and his dear cats. At least they were not destroyed . . . At least John can still see them . . . At least he was able to keep two at home. ♥

Today I am grateful for my little cats who keep me company... Apple and Blackberry, with Blackberry under his duvet Blackberry, who followed me when I took my camera out. He looks so displeased that I am fussing with my camera instead of admiring him! Jude

Apple on Safari yesterday She followed me and Rosie the dog all the way around the field. "Can I smell mouse?" "I'd better follow the others." "I wish they wouldn't let cows in here..they make so many big holes to fall in." "Oh no! not thistles." "This seems like a nice spot for a rest." "Rosie and I are on the scent..." "I wonder who lives down here...rabbit, fox or badger?" "Nearly home!" Apple is just visible as a black dot by the hedge. "I'm soooooo tired!"

Thank you dear Jude, for sharing your safari with us! What a lovely time! I'd be afraid that one of my cats would wander off . . . they are no longer allowed outside. Apple is very lively indeed, for one so elderly . . . and so very shiny. I have told you before, I know, that your Rosie makes me think so very much of my Rosie, so many years ago. Now I can go back to work feeling as though I've had a bit of a romp in the countryside! ♥
