RE: My friend Betty - 2/11/2009 3:42 PM ( #61 )
Dear Joya,
First of all thanks for all the updates on Betty and her family especially the tiny twins. Second, bless you for being such a caring and helpful friend to her. You are a truly giving and generous person.  Third, I am keeping Betty and the kids (all 8) in my prayers as well as you and your family as you help in this trying situation. And fourth, I am going now to light another candle. I believe we said the group was Betty. If not I will just start a new group with that name  The candle is for all the people involved in this time of illness and hopes for healing.

Take care and get some rest, at least. Love you,
Karen

RE: My friend Betty - 2/11/2009 8:30 PM ( #62 )
Here's another up-date for you all who are trying to keep up with BEtty and her twins. I went to see Betty and the twins last night. You would not believe this but the little boy is OFF the ventilator and he was suppose to go to the CPAP breathing machine but he is doing so good that they just put him on the nasal canula. So far he has done well but the doctor said the 1st 24 to 48 hours is the most crucial and for us not to be suprised if he has to go bask to the CPAP. So THAT IS SO GOOD! He has been on it over 24 hours so we will keep our fingers crossed.
Little miss prissy on the other hand has taken sort of a bad turn though. We are very suprised as she has been doing so good they have been going to realease her 4 times since Saturday. Last night when I was there Betty was feeding her and all the sudden her heart rate dropped and her other vital signs did too. Aparently that has happend a few times during the last couple of days. It scared me yesterday but I tried to be so strong for Betty. Courtney has not been on any kind of oxygen since last Thursday and Betty called me this morning telling me that they had to put Courtney back on the nasal canula. I tolds her that it would all work out in the end. I told the nurses yesterday that Courtney just doesn't want to go home without her brother. They think that Courtney might have got the RSV virus again or that she has pnuemonia. Her lungs are crackily again. They are suppose to do more x-rays tonight. See to be released from the hospital one of the things is that the baby has to test nergative at least 3 times for RSV and Courtney has done this but you can get the virus again.

I will have to tell you this though in the NICU where the babies were, yesterday there was only Betty's 2 babies in their room because they have to not be with the other babies because they are contagious. Anyway, in the NICU they have motion sensored sinks and paper towel machines. Whe you walk up to the sink, it turns on and so does the paper towel dispenor. Anyway yesterday while I was there with the babies the sink turned on many many times by itself and there was no one around it! The paper towel dispenser also started working by itself. I know that my angel babies along with the other babies in Heaven had to be there looking after the twins. I felt so good after this as I felt like everything will definately be ok.  I don't think anyone could led me to believe anything else. Betty said that the sink and paper towel dispensor started turning off and on Saturday night by theirselves. That was the same night that Christpoher took a turn for the worse and had to be put on the ventilator. Isn't that something? Thanks for reading this and wanting the up-dated on Betty and the twins. Betty told me to tell you all that she appreciates all the love and thoughts.

Dear Joya,

Thank you for the update! I am really happy to hear that Christopher is doing so much better. I am sorry that Courtney has had a setback! It's a long haul and takes a lot of patience! All these angels setting off the automatic dispensers! These things do have a mind of their own, but it's nice to think of angels doing it!

Give Betty my love! My prayers are with her, the twins and YOU!
Much love,
Edda
Peace and joy!

Dear, dear Joya . . .
I can only say that the days behind and the days ahead look exhausting for all.
Please allow yourself to be nourished,
so that you can give your very best to the demands of the day.
I keep you all in my thoughts and prayers,
and light a candle of love and strength for little Courtney and Christopher
with much love . . .

Here's another up-date. Christopher is off of the nasal canula and everything. HE is breathing on his own!  They took the I.V.s out and the feeding tube. They think that if he keeps showung signs of improverment he will go home Saturday. AS far as Courtney, she is still on the nasal canula and they are trying to wean her slowly. We hope that she will get to come home when her brother does. It has been a long 2 weeks. Thanks for all your prayers, thoughts and word of encouragement. I will continue to keep you up-dated.
