Secret Summaries The Great Secret of Life is the law of attraction. The law of attraction says like attracts like, so when you think a thought, you are also attracting like thoughts to you. Thoughts are magnetic, and thoughts have a frequency. As you think thoughts, they are sent out into the Universe, and they magnetically attract all like things that are on the same frequency. Everything sent out returns to the source - you. You are like a human transmission tower, transmitting a frequency with your thoughts. If you want to change anything in your life, change the frequency by changing your thoughts. Your current thoughts are creating your future life. What you think about the most or focus on the most will appear as your life. Your thoughts become things. (Rhonda Byrne, The Secret)

Thank you, Bernie, for this citation! It certainly is an interesting idea. Thoughts do matter! Perhaps this explains how friends can find each other in a place like this website! One discovers that one "resonates" with certain individuals in a special way. We talk about being on the same wave length! Habitual thinking creates a future of more of the same. Changing our thought pattern might well change our life! With every good wish, Edda

I believe this too, dear Bernie . . . I have seen it happen in my own life, and the more I pay attention to this truth, the more I can be present to everything around me with love . . . sparrow

Used CD, "The Secret," w/ clients in a group whose LOC (locus of control) is generally quite external, needing to become more inner-directed, self-actualizing. This particularly brings home the importance of transforming -ve programming to more +ve reprogramming and demonstrates how, unfortunately, so many are seriously bogged down in their negativity, the same self-defeating, - destructing rerun... However, resistance, blocks, must be respected & gradually worked thru.

Dear Bernie . . . I don't know what you mean by 'used CD..." I do understand what you are saying about the rest. And I do agree . . . Have you heard of the the movie "Living Luminaries"? (no specific reference to the movie as I haven't seen it) There are many avenues out, but only one way with love . . . sparrow

(CD n. Abbr: A small optical disk on which data such as music, text, or graphic images are digitally encoded.) Reason on its own is useless, for the first function of discursive thought is to separate, not to unite, to analyze not to synthesize. What unites is not reason but love. 'A deeper brotherhood, a yet unfound law of love is the only sure foundation possible for a perfect social evolution, no other can replace it.' And yet he (Aurobindo) realized that without an inner transformation of the individual there could be no outer transformation of the collectivity... 'The solution lies not in the reason but in the soul of man... It is a spiritual, an inner freedom that can alone create a perfect human order... A deeper brotherhood, a yet unfound law of love, is the only sure foundation possible for a perfect social evolution...' Teilhard & Aurobindo share a common view of the universe: First, Spirit takes precedence over matter. Secondly, since this is so, it follows that Spirit must always have been in matter in a rudimentary form. Third, evolution is a progressive unification, an ever-increasing spiritualization of matter. Fourth, the goal of evolution must be the integration of matter in a final harmony and its convergence on to a centre of attraction which is supramental and divine. Fifthly, the only conceivable agent of such a convergence is a 'yet unfound law of love.' (R.C. Zaehner, Evolution in Religion: A Study in Sri Aurobindo and Pierre Teilhard de Chardin)

Thank you Bernie. I totally agree with that. I have been posting here for about a week. I wish I were better at controlling my thoughts. I would be curious to hear what you think of something that Drunbalo Melchizedek said in an interview last year. It was regarding the secret and manifesting. He said to take great care to manifest from the heart and not the mind. He went on to say that when we manifest from the mind we get what we wanted. but we also attract the opposite. He said that when we manifest from the mind we put into action the duality. However if we manifest from the heart we will attract only what we intended. He was specifically refering to the Secret. I was wondering what your thoughts are on that. Thank you. liliwings

The heart is much more loving, caring than the mind; women generally are much more adept at this, too, esp. w/ their kids, their loved ones. You cannot but admire a woman's profundity in this respect, it's truly awesome!

I was taught to put everything to or through my heart...thoughts, speech, actions, changes. Not easy to do, but a good thing to aspire to I think. We were brought up to believe the heart ruling the head was a bad thing, but thought has changed quite considerably since those days....or perhaps we just misunderstood the heart! Jude

There is a book out by Daniel Pink called "A Whole New Mind...Why Right-Brainers Will Rule The Future". Left brain being loosely equated with the head, and right brain with the heart. Fascinating, especially if you have either read Jill Bolte Taylor's book "My Stroke of Insight", or seen her interviewed or speaking at a TED conference. We (us?) right-brainers are finally coming of age. Watch out world ! with love . . . sparrow

Yes, rt-brained people are like a different breed, much rarer - on the MBTI they're the 'NF', the intuitive-feeling types, the idealists ... counselors/therapists, for instance, who are lt-brained ('sensing-thinking') tend to gravitate towards administrative jobs; while their other half prefer the more people-oriented, empathic, caring roles. Bureaucrats vs. the genuine caretakers; however, both are needed & can best be complemented to become optimally viable.

Dear Bernie, I hope it doesn't have to be an either/or. Can't we hope to evolve into balancing the two halves of the brain? I do think this is possible since I know people who are very smart and clear-thinking but also deeply caring and good listeners. Thank you for your input, Edda

Of course, ma'am, The desirable middle ground between any two extremes, according to the philosophy of Aristotle, The Golden Mean: the perfect moderate course or position that avoids extremes; the happy medium (both are needed & can best be complemented to become optimally viable).

Oh dear, all . . . I did not mean to imply that I think that right-brainers are going to take over. I personally could use a little more left-brain myself . . . . Thank you so much Bernie, for your thoughtful and provocative posts with much love to you down there in Texas . . . sparrow

No, dear sparrow, I think we understood that you meant we needed a bit more right-brain activity in order to balance us up. We have been dominated by left-brain thinking for a while. I am and have always been very right-brain biased, and my computer has done a lot to remedy that. (although I am quite happy to be right-brain biased ) Jude

great discussion. Thank you so much for this intersting reading. Thank you Bernie for your words. Jude, I so admire what you were taught. Edda, your words feel comforting ... The balance. And as always, Sparrow. A few years ago I took some classes with a teacher who lives in California. He travels the country teaching and holding workshops. He is not very well known. I think about him now because he talked about a discovery that there is a brain in the heart. After reading the posts here I googled what he was talking about. I came across a webpage that looked intersting. here is an excerpt of what was said "..... Although previously unknown, neuroscientists have now discovered that there are over 40,000 nerve cells (neurons) in the heart alone, indicating that the heart has its own independent nervous system sometimes called “the brain in the heart.........." if anyone wants the link for the webpage to read the entire article, I will put it up here. I do not want to post the link without permission. I am sending light, gratitude and love to you all. liliwings

Dear liliwings, Yes, do put up the website...I would be interested. I also believe the stomach has it's own bit of brain, so maybe one day we will prove that not all of our brain resides in our heads. Jude
