Hello friends. My friend from another forum RJ (Robert J) has just found out that he has squamous cell lung cancer (not the small kind) in one section of his lung. He also has pneumonia (not sure if its in both lungs). His appetite is poor and he just got out of the hospital and has to have more tests and consults on what course of action to take.
 
Please pray for him and please take a minute if you dont mind and light a candle for him in a group called RJH

Here is some info from a mutual friend who talked to RJ recently:
 
"I talked to him yesterday.  He sounds good, and his spirits seem high.  It sounds like his medical team is top-notch, and he has a good group of friends and family that include some very knowledgeable people who know the right questions to ask and keep him well informed.
 
I am heartened by all the good news I heard."
 
I still don't know what course of treatment they are going to decide on for him. I will let you know more as I find it out. thanks for caring. Karen

Hello there. I got some emails from RJ's wife Lou Ellen. Here is some information she said I could share with the forum.
 
She tells me that he had a a port put it for ease of transferring the IV's. They will do another PET scan in a few more weeks to see how the treatment is going.   He has his radiation therapy down to a breeze, takes about 15 minutes from the time they take him back until he returns for trip home.  Of course on Mondays, he goes directly to the lab for the chemo and that takes a number of hours.  It will be much better tomorrow though since he now has the port in the shoulder so they don't have to struggle with his veins.   he has had none of the nausea usually associated with chemo and he is generally eating fairly well. he is having good days and bad days. continued prayer would be much appreciated....
 
Lou Ellen herself could use some prayers too. she is having a biopsy of the artery running through her temple today,  they think she has what is known as  Giant Cell Arteritis.  She is not afraid since they have already started treatment, unfortunately it requires long term (at least six months) use of Prednisone and she doesn't look forward to the increase weight gain.  She has no problems so far with her sight which is a major risk, but the doctors believe they have caught it in time to prevent any further damage.
 
If I find out any more about the situation I will keep you informed.
