Please help me by saying a prayer

I have no other family or friends, so all I have are my fur babies. My cat Fluffy is very ill and may die soon. I pray everyday she doesn't, but I need all the prayers I can get for her. She is 11 years old and she has cardiomyopathy since age 4. she now has what may be liver cancer. I took her to the vet twice and the first time they took blood and said her liver count was high and put her on some meds, but it didn't seem to work, so I brought her back for x-rays and now it appears she has liver cancer. I made an appointment with a specialist, but the soonest they had is the 16th, and the doctor is away until the 8th, so they can't even ask him to move it up. She eats very little on her own and I had to feed her baby food, and she gets mad at me. I just want to be able to take her to this specialist and give her every chance before I need to make a drastic decision. She's had a hard begining I found her when she was 5 weeks old outside my window and I bottle fed her and nursed her back to health. She was my mother and mines. My mother passed away last May 5th, so this is the last tie I have to her. I still am trying to cope with life without her and being alone with my fur babies, and now this. I'm heartbroken and so is my dog, her brother. I ask you all that are pet owners and lovers to please say a pray for her. God Bless you.

Dear Debbie, I will gladly light a candle for your little cat Fluffy. I found the candle group 'Fluff' and will light a candle there. I have an elderly cat who is ill and I know the anguish you feel. All I can do is make his last days as happy and comfortable as possible, and he gets (and gives) lots of Love. Blessings to you also Debbie, With Love, Jude

Dear Debbie . . . I am happy that you have found this forum of love and comfort. If you keep coming back you will find that there are many animal lovers, all of whom (me included) have gone through the experience of losing a beloved friend. My heart goes out to you, and nothing I can say will make it better for you. You have given your precious little Fluffy a long and loving life . . . and the love you have for each other will never die. I pray that if possible, she is able to stay with you awhile longer, but if this is not to be so, that the experience of having her these eleven years will enrich and strengthen and bless you always with love that reaches out . . . sparrow

Welcome to the forum, Debbie! I read your post and am touched by it! I am so sorry that you have to face losing Fluffy, a cat who has such special meaning to you. My sympathy to you also for the loss of your mother. Letting go of those we love is so hard. We lost our twelve year old cat to cancer quite a few years ago, but still think of him with affection. So I do know what it feels like as do so many others in these forums. I am sure you have stories to tell about Fluffy. It might help to share them with us if you wish. As has been mentioned above, you are in the company of animal lovers here! I'll light a candle for Fluffy! Much love, Edda

Hi Debbie, I too will light a candle for Fluffy. I had a cat named Fluffy. I recieved him for my birthday present. I loved him and my mom used to say I had him trained...he would go upstairs when it was time for bed. He even traveled across the US when we moved from New Jersey to California. He escaped right before we were leaving and I was distraught. I remember saying to my parents I am not leaving without him and crying my eyes out I couldn't find him in the woods. My dad I remember walking through the back sliding glass door with him. Don't worry I found him, he said. I was so happy and relieved. He was a beautiful cream persian, hence the name Fluffy. He died from a abcess on his chin. It was awful. I remember caring for him and the vet just saying take him home and clean his wound and maybe he'll be ok.I remember that is when I learned flea colars don't work and began to use powders and sprays. Loosing a pet ( family member) is so very hard. Peace, Love and Joy, Diane
Grateful to be here! What a gift and connection builder! Love and Gratitude, Love who You Are

Dear Debbie, I am so sorry to hear of your cat's illness and problems. I pray for you and Fluffy that you can deal with the end as comfortably and peacefully as possible. Hopefully you will find some friends here to talk to some more and feel less alone. I find posting here to be comforting and warming to the soul. No other site I have found is more accepting and supportive than here. I have two cats who are members of the family too, so I can imagine how hard it is for you. I am also extending my hand in friendship and support over the loss of your dear mother. That is one of the hardest losses to bear in this life. She and you had a special bond that can never be broken. I hope you will come back and post more so we all can get to know each other a bit more, and let the bonds of friendship grow. My best friends in the world are my online friends! I will go now and light a candle for you and for Fluffy in the group Fluff. take care and remember you only have to handle one day at a time. Hugs to You, Karen

Thank you all for such kindness to my beloved Fluffy. I'm sorry I haven't been back sooner, but I've been trying to comfort her. She is a very stubborn young lady. I have to feed her baby food, and she just hates it.I made her a scrambled egg and got her to eat half by spoon feeding. I called the specialist office and they made a note of me having to feed her this way. This morning she ate a little fancy feast in her dish- after I tried tuna first- she snubbed her nose at that, then I open two cans to get her to eat a little.I talked to her regular vets office on Friday to see what I could use for nausea and also for pain( if she started having some this weekend). I'm very disappointed in their treatment of her. The doctor at first wasnt' too worried( I had to take her as an emergency just to be seen, otherwise I couldn't get an appt for 2-3 months- outrageous)Then she asks me if I want to do a blood test. After I tried to get her to do one late last year by coming here, since it was too cold for Fluff to go out, but she just brushed it off saying sometimes it's more stressfull on them. Then I had to call her to get the results, and again she's not that concerned. Her liver counts are very high and she's not concerned. Then she takes the xray and doesn't show it to me, but calls me the next morning with this criptic message that now she's very concerned and suggest I see the specialist for an ultrasound. She didn't want to even talk to me. When I went to her office Fri, after waiting to hear back, they now say they don't know for sure she has cancer and can't give anything for the pain. I'm like what are you talking about, that's what she said when I asked her point blank. I pray to God this specialist can find what's bothering her and make her better, and then I'm never going back there again. I have to worry about her poor brother( he's a siberian husky, but he loves his big sister). Again, I am most greatful and thankful for all the compassion and kindness, and my heart goes out to all of you that have suffered a lost. I've been there before with two of my other huskies, but it never gets any easier. The last time I had my mother, now I have nobody so it's a lot harder.I'm trying to stay positive and pray to St Francis and the Lord constantly to help her. May God Bless each and every one of you for taking the time to pray for my fur baby. I can't find the words to express my gratitude.

Dear Debbie . . . It sounds as if it is truly time to find another veterinarian. Her treatment of you appears to have been harsh and uncaring at the least. I hope that Fluffy is able to receive good, kind care from the specialist. I know so well how difficult all of this has been . . . You both, as well as your mother who you have lost so recently, remain in my thoughts and prayers with much love . . . sparrow

Dear Edda,Jude,Sandra, lil sparrow, Thank you all so very much for your kindness and lighting candles and prayers. Please keep them coming for my little girl Fluffy. She's such a spunky lady, even though she's sick she's still a fighter. I offered her some food this morning, but she had nasea again, so I gave her a pepcid and wait an hour and feed her a jar of chicken baby food. She got so mad at me, but I told her I have to do this to keep her strong and see the specialist. I tell her all the time how much I love her and want her to stay with us happy and healthy. I know she understands. She looks at me and listens, even though she's mad at me. Thank you lil sparrow for saying what I felt about her doctor. She started out so caring and understanding, but now I feel like her business has grown so much in such a short time that the interest just isn't there like it used to be.I'm going to work on getting her better then look for another vet. I can't trust someone like this when I have a serious emergency this is how she treats us. It's so unfair to them, we are their voices, but I will continue to fight for her and pray to the Lord to make her well again. I try so hard not to cry in front of her. My mother used to tell me not to, cause she understands so much. I miss my mother so much, she was my rock and my strength. Sorry to ramble on. Thank you again and God Bless you all from the bottom of my heart. Please keep the prayers coming our way and I'll keep posting on her.

. . . a thought dear Debbie . . . My vet has given me a pill to help stimulate the appetite. Perhaps this might be appropriate in your case, I don't know . . . it worked for one of my cats, but not another . . . she was too sick. Also there is a prescription diet by Hills, I think, for cats who have a hard time eating. It is called A/D, and is much like baby food with lots of nutrients.

Dear Debbie, I admire how you are fighting for your little cat Fluffy and I hope you find something to tempt her to eat soon. Changing your Vet seems a good move as a caring Vet is priceless. However, without seeming heartless, and I am as keen on cats as its possible to be I would offer a word of caution. I had an elderly sick cat that I kept alive by force-feeding him. His little heart was so strong that he kept going for over a year, but he didn't get any better, neither could the Vet make him any better. I would advise that you don't keep the force-feeding up for too long. Fluffy obviously hates the baby food! Have you tried her with something tasty, like mashed up liver (chicken liver is the softest) or mashed tuna? Also I think almost liquid food is available for sick cats. Our little fur babies often know what is the best thing for themselves. You are in my thoughts, Love, Jude
