PIPELINE TO THE SPIRIT WORLD

"Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) was not a hysterical or excitable person, but singularly composed and sedate. With all his other talents, he did not have time to be a ladies' man; and perhaps that's just as well, because who knows what it would have done to his reputation. That he was actually shy with women is reveled by the fact that when he was turned down by the one girl he hoped to marry, he never asked another, and he remained unwed all his life.

"He was able to predict the exact day he would die, writing in a letter to John Wesley that he was going into the spirit world for good on March 29, 1772. And he did.

"It was hardly surprising that Emanuel Swedenborg should have had advance warning of his own death, for he had been hobnobbing with spirits for twenty-eight years by then, and in their own territory, too. The spirit world, he claimed, surrounds us; but it is normally unseen because our physical bodies are not usually adapted to perceiving it, unless we are unusually psychic, as he was.

"On Swedenborg's visits to these other planes or spheres, he met people whom he had known during their earthly lives, and a great number of historic personages. He associated with these familiarly, and they told him a great deal about conditions after death. He was even shown around some of the higher planes, those almost nobody reaches until they've been 'over' for a long time and are quite spiritually progressed.

"Incidentally, as further evidence that he hadn't lost touch with reality, about ten years before his death, when there was a great depression and panic in Sweden, some of Swedenborg's best material was written about financial matters. He was a staunch advocate of stabilized currency backed by gold; and he was the originator of the idea amortization of mortgages. All this matter-of-fact commerce was going on while he was at the same time making his daily visits with his invisible friends.

"If he (an individual) was spiritually enlightened at the time of death, he will be in a beautiful place - the Heavenly Kingdom… After the spirit has escaped at death, the physical body is of no more use, and the liberated soul lives forever in the spiritual world. It never takes to itself another physical body. Only once are we born on earth, and afterwards we continue as spiritual beings… It should never be forgotten that death is not the end of life, but only one of its most important experiences."

This statement from the spirit world, sent through automatic writing (William James, a Message from Beyond), allegedly written by one of America’s best known psychologist’s (William James, 1842-1910), who was very active in psychical research during his lifetime, follows:

"…The only way that the consciousness, or spirit, may change is by his own efforts. And so it is by his own conscious design that he improves himself. When he begins to realize that his progress depends entirely upon his own efforts, he will start to work on his self-improvement, and then he will begin to advance. His goal is the highest possible spiritual development, which will eventually make him worthy of unity with what is termed God – although I hesitate to use that word because it has so many wrong connotations. Let us rather use the expression Ultimate Perfection. This covers everything of the greatest good, the highest intelligence, and the most universal love. It is the achievement of Ultimate Perfection that is man’s goal from the moment he was born on earth, and it must continue always to be his goal."

I have found my belief in immortality to be the most rewarding thing in my life. Perhaps this might start your interest in attempting to find for yourself some philosophy of life after death which might be as helpful to you.

(REINCARNATION for the millions by Susy Smith)
(Susy Smith devoted her entire adult life to addressing the grand question - does consciousness continue after physical death?)

Immediately following the death of Susy Smith, 89 years old, the author of thirty books on parapsychology and survival of consciousness, it was possible to conduct two experiments to see if evidence of her continued consciousness could be obtained. Experiment I involved a single-blind design with an experienced research medium who serves as Chairperson of the Mediumship Research Committee in the Human Energy Systems Laboratory at the University of Arizona. Experiment II was partially blind and included two new research mediums who were blind to the name and history of the deceased person (Smith). The findings from both experiments provided strong evidence for the continuance of information about Smith. It is hoped that the publication of these findings will encourage scientists and spiritual leaders to bring Smith's afterlife codes experiment and the Susy Smith Project to the attention of mediums and students.
