My Angel - 5/26/2009 5:35 PM ( #1 )
Please light a candle for my angel tonight, it is six months since he was hit by a speeding car and killed, he died in my arms and I am still devastated, he was by baby and best friend, yes he was my dog, but no less for that, I am the lesser for not making sure he was safe, and protecting him from harm, please keep us both in your thoughts, the guilt on my part is terrible to bear, and I am always crying.

My dear Jean,
My heart goes out to you, it really does. You must be devastated.
Please try not to feel so guilty. Pets can't always be kept safe, any more than humans can, and you loved him and did your best for him. Love transcends everything, and I'm sure your dog is still able to love you, just as you love him.

I will light a candle for Jake? and for you in the 'All' group unless you have a candle group already for him.

With Love and sympathy,
Jude

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Welcome to the forum, Jean!

I am so very sorry that you have lost your beloved friend and companion Jake. As the others already told you, try let go of your guilt feelings. No matter how careful we are, accidents will happen. I do understand how much you miss Jake.

I'll light a candle for both of you in the ALL group.

Much love,
Edda
Peace and joy!

Dear Jean
I do believe that dogs are like angels for us.  And I am so sorry that your beloved angel dog Jake passed away.

I can tell you what the others did.  And it would be correct.  Please try to not feel guilty.  I do so believe that if it was not his time to go, this would not have happened.  No matter how careful we are, we cannot prevent some things.  But the guilt surely can torture us, as you know.

The loss of a family member is devistating.  I am truely sorry for your loss.  And I know in my heart that Jake is whole and healthy where he is now.  Far from dead.  And yes,  you will meet again.  After all, he is part of your heart. yes?  with love to you, liliwings
No need to spend endless hours, days, weeks searching for the rainbow.  Open your heart and your eyes to see and know you are the rainbow you seek.  Rejoyce in the beauty of the co-creation of you.

I am so so so very sorry:  I share a similiar experience, and while I know that doesn't make you feel better, I wanted to share with you a Poem I received:  Hoping it gives you comfort

while I would love to take an eraser and wipe away the guilt you have and replace with all the fun times with your companion, that is something I do not have the power and ability to do, there is One who can if you turn upward to him ♥
This stormy time is hard to go through, I will remember you in my prayers and you certainly have

Dear Jean . . .
I am happy that you have found this forum,
especially at this time when you are so very heartbroken,
and hope that you will return and share your journey when you can . . .
we all do the very best that we can
to protect the ones we love,
but we cannot control everything
and life happens.
You loved Jake so very much while he was with you . . .
you gave him comfort and love and joy.
That is the most we can do . . .
and your love and its energy will never die
but always remain a bright and shining star
in the universe,
and your dear Jake
suffers no more . . .
but perhaps plays in the grass
across the rainbow bridge,
waiting
with love . . .
sparrow
everything counts...

Dear Jean, First of all welcome to the forum. I hope that you find the support and love that I have.  I am sorry for your loss of Jake. I know that your heart must be broken. As a pet lover I too have had some of my very sweetest. I know that it is hard to say this but it's not your fault. There like others have said is accidents. I have done the same thing though and mine has been hit by a car but sometimes you can't help that they run off. I have a dog right now that I don't know what I would do if something were to happen to her as she means the world to me. She has a tendency to run away some and I worry. Please like I said don't feel guilty as it will only eat at you. Please know that we are here for you any time.I like the other know that your Jake is waiting for you at rainbow bridge. I will light a candle for you and your Jake. With love ALways, Joya

Sandra and Xanadue, I have never heard that poem but that one is a good one. I can't wait to see my pets I have lost at rainbow bridge.
