We are living in a world of sharks - 5/31/2009 6:14 PM ( #1 )
...

It´s even good, to know, we live with risks – although my son learned it a couple of years ago.
Our neighbour in Italy called some day from his garden when we sat down to have breakfast.
He asked, if we like to see a shark and came after a while to us.
He handed this fish to my son and said: “You shall know, that you never touch the teeth of this shark, he is small but his teeth are very sharp; we couldn´t prevent his dead, we found him last morning in our fishing net.”

Our son and the two children of my second daughter where sceptical (as you can see) and careful, but my daughter –Mom - and near twenty eight years old, said: “Of course, we take care” and touched “JUST A LITTLE BIT :o)” the sharks teeth, softly, when the neighbour showed us his open mouth – and in the same moment she cut her finger and it bleeds.
It was embarrassing, that she study medicine, and she cannot see her own blood, the result was, that she was “not so o.k. after”… (ed.: she pricks very well, I ever will go to her, if I have to do  :o)

We often think, that the danger we know, we can have under control, and so we also often make the experience, that we underestimate it.

Dear Isabella,

Thank you for this illustrated story and its message! I am reminded of occasions, when we are warned that something is very hot and we touch or taste it anyway. We have to burn our finger or our tongue to believe it. There are greater temptations to do things where we may get hurt. Sometimes we can't resist and have to suffer the consequences.
A sharp tooth, hot soup, a not quite steady ladder, a risky investment... do we really need to convince ourselves?

Much love,
Edda
Peace and joy!

Isabella, this is very profound, and says a lot about human nature!
Man thinks he/she is in control..........

Dear Sandra,

It´s my son when he was eight years old.
And now, some times, he make things like his sister   and we all stand near him, and smile...and hug, and...

Ah so now the shark mystery from another room is solved . . .
What a perfect illustration
of me I am afraid . . .
I always 'have to see (or feel) for myself'.
It is something irresistible to me,
and I must always teach myself
control
or have bitten fingers,
stung hands,
or burned tongue . . .
not so funny in a bigger arena of life.
And so,
I too, have been bitten by the shark
and lived to tell the tale
(by the grace of God)

ps. your son, Isabella . . .
what a beautiful child!
everything counts...

my ddear sparrow,

don´t worry! Someone is near you, isn´t he?

I am fighting with sharks every day, maybe you too, and you don´t taking it because you hav the practice? Really dangerous are the invisible sharks

Oh, I want to thank you. Really, R. i s a really nice young man. The girls like him, but also he, had his first hurt...and she was a really nice lady-girl, but young, as he... (if I think of him, just now, my heart goes out to him).

Sometimes, I want to be a sparrow, like to fly and look at my dears, to bless them, when they need, to hug them when they like, to be there to turn away many little sharks, sometimes the big, to warn them. But as you know, a Mom is just a Mom, a friend is a friend, and what we like to bring someone, it must be the most time something he/she had picked up at first by themselves, I think...

in this way ... love, Is.
If you want to know something about someone, listen to your heart.

Dear Isabella,

I guess we are all in the same boat! We know better but do it anyway! I can well imagine that you would like to keep the "sharks" away from your children, but they are probably just like their "elders" and can't resist either!

Much love,
Edda
Peace and joy!

Good story about risk taking  Isabella.  It sounds like your daughter is quite a risk taker.  Sometimes it does not always work out as we plan, does it?  The picture is wonderful.  Thank you for posting this story.  with love, liliwings

Dear Isabella . . .
I know too,
that we want to protect those we love
from pain and disappointment,
but I have discovered
both in myself
and in others
that the young
always 'know what is best'
and do not often listen to us
but prefer to make their own mistakes.
I think that perhaps it is part of the journey . . .
that we must all have a few
(more than a few for some of us )
tumbles before we can walk . . .
it is all a part of the learning
with love . . .
