There are seemingly few people interested in movies here...
Well, here is still another one you have to see:
Clint Eastwood 'Gran Torino'.
Great movie of one of the really great American directors
tmho! He is getting better and better...
greetings,
Fred

I have not seen
'Gran Torino'
,
dear Fred,
but thanks to 'netflix'
I did see
'The Diving Bell and the Butterfly'
this weekend . . .
such a beautiful story
of triumph over adversity,
that I ordered the book on Amazon.

Dear Sparrow,
I have read something on 'the Diving Bell and the Butterfly'.
It must be very good! I know the painting work of Schnabel, but didn't know he is also an film director. Tonight Iwill look at it. It will be a consolation in my own suffering and isolation.
PAX,
Fred

Thinking about it, I recently borrowed
"The Diving Bell and The Butterfly"
from the library. It was quite an exceptional film.

Having watched "Educating Rita" again last night I would definitely put this in the 'great movie' category. I'm a massive fan of Julie Waters anyway. Not a fan of Michael Caine, but I think this is the best movie he's made and he was perfect for the part.
The soundtrack music, 'Rita's Song' always makes me cry! It hits the spot, and was going through my head all night. Of course, it was the first thing I looked for on YouTube this morning.

"Educating Rita" is very very English! It has the class system described very well, and seeing it with new eyes I saw lots of new things in it.....little cameos. For instance, Rita's husband is a bit of a characature (not sure if I've spelt it right...I couldn't find it in my dictinary) but unfortunately only too commonplace.

Dear Eleanor,
I haven't seen "Mamma Mia" yet. I expect I will have to wait for it to be on TV.
Yes, "Billy Elliot" another great film!
I've just remembered another Julie Walters film which I enjoyed, called "My Beautiful Son." She's just is one of the very best we've got isn't she?

Dear friends,
I didn't look at this thread for some time.
Thanks for 'Mamma Mia'. I don't know it...
Billy Eliot must also be very good, according to a colleague of mine and you all.
Did you see other Daldry films such as The Hours and The Reader? Great!
Yoiu have to see also 'Odette Toutlemonde' by
