Dear Sharon . . . I am so happy to see you post, but sorry that it is with this news. As Edda has said, "Yes, we are hanging in there with you! You are a family member and we wouldn't put you out! " You are always in my thoughts and prayers as well. I hope that the doctors are able to quickly find the cause of your mum's illness, and can get her started on the right treatment. Please come back and let us know how you both are doing . . . candles burn for you with love . . . sparrow

Thank you all for your messages of support and I am sorry not to reply to you individually but I am too tired and off to bed. The doctors are still not sure what is wrong with mum she is still on oxygen and having nebulisers and they keep doing blood tests for one thing or another. She didn't have much sleep last night though it didn't help been moved to another ward at about 5am. I will be going back to see her tomorrow they haven't given any idea about how long she will be in I guess they can't say until they know what is wrong. Hopefully it won't be too long as she is fed up of been in. The oxygen is helping although she is still getting breathless when she moves or attempts to move love sharon

Thank you dear Sharon, for letting us know how your mother is doing. It must be frustrating for both of you, to be so long in finding out what the problem is, but sometimes it takes time to rule out all possibilities. It is important that you get the rest you need too, in order to best support your mother. You remain very much in my prayers, and candles are lit with much love . . . sparrow

Just a quick update before bed. There is still no definite news on what is wrong with mum blood tests are indicating a blood clot but that can't be confirmed until she has a scan. Hopefully she will get one tomorrow otherwise she will have to wait until next week. If it is confirmed as a clot she is looking at been in hospital for a week to 10 days which she's not happy about and will have to stay on warfarin for at least six months and have regular blood tests and out patient appointments. Not the news we wanted to hear as the doctor said blood clots are serious so I hope that she is going to be ok I'm just glad she saw the gp when she did. She is still on oxygen and having nebulisers 3 times a day she said she had a right struggle getting washed today as she was getting all breathless. I feel guilty now as I knew she was unwell last week but just thought it was her flu jab then when she started having a bit of a problem with her breathing I said maybe you've got a chest infection and need antibiotics but then she just kept getting worse. If I had realised how unwell she really was I would have made her see the doctor earlier. Never dreamt it would be something serious even when she first went in hospital love sharon

Dear Sharon, Don't blame yourself for your mum's illness. It's always easy to see things in hindsight, but you are there for her and that's what is important. I do hope there will be some definite news soon and her treatment can be started properly. With Love, Jude

I agree with Jude, dear Sharon. We all have had times when we can look back, and things look more clear in hindsight. We do the best we can in the given moment. I am grateful that your mother eventually did get to the hospital and into treatment . . . don't start beating yourself up. You are so very kind and caring to your mother, and giving her support and love, which is at least as important as the medical care. You both are very much in my thoughts and prayers with love . . . sparrow

Dear Sharon, I completely agree with what Jude and Sparrow have already said! Hindvision is 20/20! You are her daughter not her doctor! You are doing the very best you can, and are such a caring daughter! Your mother has lots of company in people who don't want to see doctors or stay in hospitals! A candle is burning for you as always! Much love and warm hugs, Edda

Just a very quick post to say that mum went down for her scan while I was visiting this afternoon and the results are due back in two hours so I will be going back to find out whats happening. 100 and one things are going through my mind right now thinking what it might be if its not a clot. But at least we will have a definite diagnosis today rather than having to wait till next week and they can give her the proper treatment that she needs. They already have been treating her for a chest infection and a clot since she was admitted as the treatment needed starting straight away. I'm panicking in case its something esle love sharon

Dear Sharon, You and your mum will be in my thoughts and I will light a candle now. I know it's hard for you. I'm praying it isn't anything worse, but what ever the verdict is, knowing is better than wondering about all the things it might be. Sending you Love and Hugs, Jude

Thank you all for your messages of support it is much appreciated. I went back to see mum and the doctor came while I was there with the results. It turns out that she doesn't have a blood clot after all she has severe bronchitis. So she is stopping having the nebulisers and starting on a inhaler and once she is off the oxygen she will be able to go home so that should be sometime next week as she needs the oxygen all the time at the moment. The news was much better than we expected as they had thought it was a clot so hopefully once she starts on the inhalers she should start to feel better and need the oxygen less and be able to come off it. Its strange it all happened just after her flu jab but they insist its not connected not sure I completely believe that but anyway hopefully she will be on the mend now. I'm just glad we didn't have to wait till next week to find out. And now I am off to bed as completely shattered love sharon
