Dearest Sharon, Great to hear from you! Just hang in there and keep returning! I think there is a virtual elastic band between you and us that keeps you coming back!! Thank you for asking about Leon. The residual wound on his heel is quite small now, so we hope there will be soon an opportunity for the next step, hip surgery. I am managing day by day, and have developed a rhythm that works, though I do get tired at times. Sometimes it is important to do what needs to be done regardless of how one feels about it. Much love and many warm hugs, Edda

Dear Edda and Jude thank you both for your messages of support this site really does keep me going. I'm just feeling the same keep hoping for a better day but it never arrives. I went to have my blood pressure checked yesturday as I had to go on tablets about 5 weeks ago as my blood pressure is too high and with my kidney failure they have to keep an eye on it. It has come down a bit but its still over what my kidney consultant wants it to be. I'd forgotten I was surposed to see the doctor 2 weeks ago about it, so I made an appointment on the way out for thursday morning. Later the surgery rang me to ask if I would be prepared to talk to some medical students who are visiting the surgery thursday morning to talk to them about kidney failure from a patients point of view so I said I would. The doctor wants to do my blood pressure again then, they were a bit concerned as my pulse was racing so hopefully that will be better on thursday when she does it again. Edda I'm pleased to hear that Leon's heel is getting better. I hope he will be able to have the surgery soon love sharon Jude Thank you so much for all your support. You don't know how much it means love sharon

Dearest Sharon, Thank you for the update! I am so very glad you are taking care of your health and making the appropriate appointments. Congratulations on being willing to share with students how it feels dealing with kidney problems, somethiing very constructive! One can learn so much more from personal experience than from books useful as they are. Please, keep up the good things you are doing and let us know how you are getting on. We love you and want to support you in every way! And don't forget telling yourself that you are worth every bit of attention you are getting!!! With much love and warm hugs, Edda

Dear Sharon, I am so pleased that you doing so many positive things....for others as well as yourself. That's great news. Do keep looking after your health. If the blood pressure tablets aren't working well enough they can always be changed for better ones. I think you have found a sense of purpose in being of service to others. This will help you too. Lots of Love and hugs, Jude

Hi Sharon, it is good to hear from you. I hope that your blood pressure issues are resolved. What a positive thing for you to be doing talking to the med students and what a high regard your doctor must hold of you to ask you to do it. Keep going, be you. Much love and warmest thoughts to you Glenys x

Dear Edda Jude and Glenys I don't know how I feel today. I got a letter from the alcohol advisory service today confirming that they have discharged me. I guess I shouldn't be surprised as I hadn't rang to make another appointment so I just don't know what to do now. I am still drinking as much as I was and don't know what to do to stop. I just feel like giving up on this world and putting myself out of my misery. sharon

Dearest Sharon, don't give up! Ask your doctor(s) for another referral. I find it hard to believe that this was the only available resource. Here in the States there are many groups of Alcoholics Anonymous that provide a great deal of help using the 12 step program. Are there no such self-help groups in Great Britain? You made such progress in attending to your physical problems, so, please, hang in there! When you talk to the medical students about kidney failure, alcoholism may well come up. You can do a GREAT deal of good explaining to the students how difficult it is to deal with it. They may learn a lot for themselves personally and for the good of their future patients. You can provide such important input! I keep you closely in my heart and prayers! With much love and many hugs, Edda

Dear Sharon, Have you tried Alcoholics Anonymous? There are lots of groups in the UK. Please look them up. There is bound to be a telephone number in any phone book for them, or look them up on the Web. I'm sure they wouldn't give up on you for a minute. Members are there to help you, and I know there are other organizations too. I remember them from when I was worried about my Son taking drugs, so I know they are there. Please do a search, or I will for you if you like. Please let me know if you'd like me to. Do come back and tell us how you are. We are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Love Jude.

Dear Edda Jude and Glenys thank you for your messages of support it does mean a lot. I don't know how I'm feeling at the moment things are not good. I'm feeling so down and I can't see any point in carrying on. I just want to go to sleep and never wake up again. Jude thank you for sending me the details of AA. I sent them an e-mail and they replied and sent me the details of where my local meetings are. I just don't think I can go as everyone else gives up on me so why wouldn't they.
