Mary called me last night to let me know that Sunday's paper has a 50% off Joann Fabric sale and was holding on the coupon if I needed it.  That is a good friend to think of me in her time of grief.
 
She is also telling people that Jerry did not want people to spend money on flowers but to make a donation to the Cancer Center (he said maybe they can find a cure) or the Food Bank in his name.  I guess you can tell what kind of people they are.  I have contacted a Greyhound group to make a donation in Jerry's name

Thank you Edda - I have told Mary about this message board and about all the loving people here who are members.  Everytime I tell her about a post I get a smile from her.  One thing about Jerry that I think you all should know.  He would never cut down a living tree even if he needed fire wood, he would only cut down the dead one or go buy a cord of wood.

i am so sorry that Jerrry died, but he will be in the arms of the Lord now.  i must apolgise for my last post.  i obviously scrolled down the page too quickly and missed some posts  myself.  and my heart went out toMary and you when i reead the thread again.
 
please tell Mary that my love and prayers are with her and you, and that i am thinking of you both.  grief is hard but, try to take it one step at a time really steadily, at yoiur own pace.  and tell Mary for us that we are listenintg to everything you say Beryl and are praying for you both.

just off the phone with Mary she sounds okay and told  me she is getting ready to go to Mass at St. Teresa.  I hope this is a good sign that she is able to get out and do things.

i will keep praying for you all, and i hope that going to mass has really helped Mary to see other people who know but like you Beryl, people who will be there for mary when she needs people, during the course of her grieving.

After the funeral mass (I had to work and could not go) Mary broke down and had to go home to be alone.  She has come around quite a bit but right now is nursing a very bad cold.  I am able to talk to her on the phone and did get to see her for a few minutes yester day when I came home from the first vet visit with EZ.  She also was worried about him and the way he was still bleeding and I did call her to tell her EZ was in the ER.  She has been calling for progress reports...

Right now she has a cold and is losing her voice so it is very hard for me to understand her but she is such a sweet caring, loving person that she is calling me to check up on EZ.  I ran into a lady at the vets who lost her husband 9 years ago and she did tell me it does get a little easier.  So for both Mary and myself I am praying it does.
 
BTW I was in shock when Mary told me that she had to pay for an Honor Guard for Jerry for the funeral.  I didn't but then I used a National Cemetery for the Interment I wonder if she will have to do the same again.

Mary helped me so it is my turn to help her.  Talked to her this am still sick with the cold but is doing okay.  I am getting ready to pick up my greyhound from the hospital and can't wait to get him home
