Dearest Isabella, I am so very sorry for your friend. I can't even imagine losing that many family members all at once. There isn't much one can say when such a tragedy happens but be present. I'll light a candle for your friend and all family members he lost! Much love, Edda

Dear Isabella, That is indeed a terrible thing for your friend. I agree with Edda, all you can do is be there for him. I too will light a candle. With Love, Jude

Isabella, I agree with Edda and Jude. I am so sorry for their loss. What can you say? what can anyone say? Just maybe to say that many whom they do not even know are praying. Again, I am so sorry. And I will light a candle. Sending love and light, liliwings

Such a loss is mind-boggling. Oh boy. The best thing to do, I think, when dealing with someone who has been struck with such a big loss is to be there quietly, discreetly. You can ask your friend if he needs anything (but before cooking something, for instance, I would ask first because of possible dietary restrictions). Seeing your friend has children, and especially if they are young, maybe caring for them in some way might be useful (say if Ali has to go to a funeral). Just remember children are likely to ask questions, and some are not easy to answer. I will light a candle for your friend immediately. ~~~~~~~~~ “We should not believe in traditions because they were transmitted from Antiquity and neither should be believe simply because of the authority of our masters or teachers. But we can apply a writing, a doctrine or a statement when the proper understanding we have of it and our inner experience confirm them. Be your own torch, your own refuge, your own Master…” - Buddha

Dear Isabella, my deepest sympathy to you, your friend and his family. "We" are always at such a loss to know what to "do" in such situations as these and yet the Holy One knows precisely what is needed. Perhaps for you to take the quiet time and go back to the place of peace and tranquility that you found the other day and described so beautifully for all of us, perhaps going back there in your heart and you can bring all those who are hurting so deeply in their loss to that place of Divine Peace and just hold them in the peace and love of the Holy One. Line is correct, about being there quietly and discreetly. From my experience, if the little ones question, a simple "prayer" of "please give me the words they need," will give you what is needed for them. So often, we feel like it depends on us, yet, if we are open to it and can move the 'me" out of the way, what is truly needed will be given to us to "do" or say. Much love and prayer for all of you.

Dear Isabella . . . I am so sorry to hear of this terrible news . . . such a loss for your friend, Ali. I cannot even imagine how he must feel. My heart is broken for him and for his children. I think, that if you send up a little prayer before answering children's questions as Betty has said, the words and the answers will come. Quietly being there for Ali, with your presence and your kind heart is the best gift that you can give . . . I light a candle in memory of his lost ones, and to honour his grief with love . . . sparrow
