I want to thank both of you for your thoughts and prayers for our kids. There are many reasons why someone ends up in prison. Many of our children got involved with drugs and from there it just went downhill. And so many of our kids are mentally ill.

Thank you for understanding. There are many people who do not understand or even care. They say such terrible things about our children. They make jokes about the abuses inflicted upon our incarcerated children. It is sad and it hurts us as parents. No one wants to see their child hurt.

Dear Judy, you are very welcome. Like you said, the key word, is that they're your 'children'. You love them unconditionally, no matter what. God Bless, and may He keep a watchful eye over them, to protect them, and give them special care. My sister in law spent some time in prison and I know how hard it was for her and us, her family. But we still loved her all the same. Hold your head up. Visit often and send lots of letters, that helped my s-i-l. Take care. Lynn

Prayers for your children. I have had several friends who were in jail and in prison. I stuck by them when no one else would because I know who they are on the inside; they are people who have made mistakes. I will light a candle for you and your children.

I am a new member and my heart goes out to you. I have lost a child to death and have also had a child who I had to put in jail. Thankfully my living child is doing very well now and I am so grateful for that. Being a mother who has lost a child to death, I feel that no matter what your children do and what kind of trouble they get into, as long as they are alive there is always the hope that they will come back on the right track and enjoy a life free from the troubles of their past. I am so sorry that you lost a child. I am glad that your living child is doing well. You are right, it is hope that carries the mothers whose children are in trouble and keeps them going.

Thank you for your prayers. My son is a good person. He is gentle and loving but he got mixed up with drugs. He is now clean and sober now and in a way I think him getting arrested and being given the sentence he got may have saved his life.

I am new here also. I just wanted to day, As a MOTHER, that you can never give up on your children. I have lost my 15 year old sister in 1985 to a murderer, she was 15 years old. Now in 2003 my youngest son was also murdered. He was 17. My signature at the bottom has the 2 web sites listed for lighting a candle or leaving a tribute. I know the loss all too well. I have one more son, he is 23 now, and I am a very proud grandmother to a 14 month old baby boy. They named him after my son. Some times the road ahead seems too rough to go on, but we always manage. My oldest son was in jail for a little while. That was a killer, I cried so much for them both, I thought I couldn't cry anymore. But thank the Lord he is always there with a hand when you need him the most. If it weren't for my precious mother, I don't think I could have made it through any of it. Her losing her youngest, then me losing mine at the hands of another, Her experience helped me along with my belief that we will be together again. I will keep you and all the mothers out there who have lost a child or have one in prison in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless you all! Never give up hope! Sometimes it is all we have!

I am so sorry about the loss of your precious angel Matt. I visited your websites and I have to tell you that I cried. I cannot imagine the loss and pain you must feel. Thank you for thinking of our lost angels. May G-D bless you and comfort you always. Matt reminds me of my son Jake. Jake will be 19 in Dec. He is such a wonderful son. I have three sons and 1 daughter. It is my third child (Danny) who is in prison. All my children are my heart. I also have a grandson. He is almost 5 years old. He is the son of my oldest son. He is so precious to me. I love being a grandma.

The loss of a son going to prison is almost as bad. You get "labeled" as a bad mother, ect...ect...I know I was labled like that when my son died. I was accused of not being there for him, ect... I know it wasn't my fault. The other boys mom who got them drunk and then didn't watch them that is at fault. There should have never been a gun there in the first place. My son had to pay the price. He had told me months before that he wanted to be an organ donor if anything ever happened. So that is what I did. He helped to keep many other families together. one of them was a very bad diabetic, and his kidneys had shut down. He now lives a very productive life...no diabetes's at all. He is doing so well that they don't even need to see him but once a year for a check up. The liver recipient is a woman that is a Christian, with 3 children and 9 grandchildren. The other recipients haven't ever contacted me. The organ donation facility tells me they are doing great. One of his lungs is out there, his heart, and his other kidney. They were able to use the bone marrow out of his legs for a few children. It helps to know that he is living on. My oldest is out of jail now, but we won't find out till the 17th of November if it will stay that way or not. Thank you so much for visiting his web sites. I love it when people light candles, or leave tributes with nice graphics in them. It lets me know he is not forgotten.

It is so hard sometimes. I just want God to end it all, end the pain and the grief. Take me home and let me rest. It is so hard to be here and not have my youngest son, and to have my oldest going through all the pain he is going through because of his ex. Now they won't even let me see my grandson. That hurts just as much as losing a child all over again. I thank you for your thoughts and kindness. It is such a sad world to be in today.

Keeping the Dream

To all who have posted here. I cannot begin to tell you how much it means to me and the other moms who come to light a candle or just read what has been written. It lightens our load a little. It is very hard this time of year with our children behind bars. We are of all faiths and the holiday season is so hard on us. Our kids are not here to share it with us. It hurts.

It's very hard to leave your loved one after a visit. My whole family prayers for his release; moving him closer to home; his health.  Jason has always been a child who liked to live on the edge. He now has reality; Jason is alive & I truly believe the Lord, put him in prison to open his soul to truth.  I love him with all my heart - I will never leave him.  If he needs me right now - I'll go.

This prayer site has certainly gotten me though some rough evenings here lately.  It's nice to know I'm not alone in this journey. I'm praying for all of you; your children;  May the Lord in Heaven place his hand upon you & shine his light through you.   Bless you all!

To Matt's Mom, Hi, I hope you are at least finding the time to visit with your son. It means so much to them. Having gone thru it with 2 in laws, we know how difficult it is, especially when it's time to leave. Special protective prayers for all your children.
