Today I am grateful for all of your postings, Betty, which I finally managed to read. This morning I posted on the wrong site - as there are two "Today I am grateful for...".
So I repeat what is most prominent for me today: I am grateful for the steps along the path of understanding others that I take, especially when I am confronted with differing views.

Today, I am grateful for all the wonderful open-minded, kind-hearted and forgiving friends I have met in these forums. If only the whole world could interact like that!

Ditto!

Today I'm also grateful that a patient of mine discharged today to go home, and she's doing so well and I feel so optimistic about her future.  Rewarding experiences like that are what keep me going every day on my job.

Today, I am grateful for all of you!!NAMASTE!
Lori, I am so sorry to hear about someone breaking into your boyfriend's house but glad he wasn't there and most things are ok. We, too, have been having several days of rain which will hopefully set the trees ablaze in the firery colors of Autumn. What a truly special gift to be able to help those whose lives have been devastated by addiction to come back to freedom. I am sure they are very lucky to have you support them along the way. The future retreat is still being warmed in the gentle light of the prayer candle.

Solomon, I am so glad you have been having the sunshine and not us. I admire your skill in putting up your own blog. I am still trying to figure out how to import pictures and new fonts onto this site. Perhaps it is more difficult because I use a Mac. Thank you for your post about being grateful that you are feeling positive. It is gift when one is "feeling" positive rather than "acting as if" which I often times find difficult.

Richard, Thank you for your concern about our weather. We have had storms all day and supposedly they will continue through the weekend but no power outages. Like you, each of us, knowing our own personal weaknesses, are grateful for the chance to atone and do good. It seems that it is only when we recognize our own weaknesses and shortcomings that we have the capability to become what Nouwen calls "wounded healers."

Dear Nita,Thank you for all the very special emails. They have been real gift and things that I need to focus on right now. It is good to have you back posting again.

Judith, I can only say "ditto" to your post about being grateful to those on this website.

Juliana, dear,There is no "right or wrong" place to post. Sometimes another just pops up and we post before we realized where we posted.

I am grateful for the steps along the path of understanding others that I take, especially when I am confronted with differing views.
This is such a powerful call to personal growth especially when it is in regard to someone who not only has differing views but seems to be a real personality clash. Thank you for sharing the fruits of your retreat with all of us and inviting us all to grow. Blessings!

Edda,Thank you for posting the poem. Blessings on your morning of centering prayerful companionship.

wonderful open-minded, kind-hearted and forgiving friends I have met in these forums. If only the whole world could interact like that!
Perhaps, this forum is the beginning of that. As Frances of Assissi put it "Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me." As each of us move in and out of the forum, perhaps we are that little pebble thrown into the ocean of the world generally and because we bring kind-hearted forgiveness with us, each of us begin to spread those little ripples of peace to all those we come in contact with outside this forum. Maybe eventually all those little ripples will become a small wave and then a larger and larger one until little corners of the world are living in peaceful kind-hearted forgiveness and acceptance.

Namaste--Truly I bow to the life spirit who resides in all of you.

Today I am grateful that dear Star, who has become a lovely friend, thinks I have helped make a difference in her life. That alone makes life worthwhile!  J

TODAY I AM GRATEFUL FOR baking chococolatechip cookies for the first time, according to Edda´s recipe,  while listening to Mozart´s violin concerto...Simply happy!

Today I'm grateful for the inspiration I received from having watched the video, A Good Day, which is on this website.  I had never taken the time to view it until yesterday.  It's inspring me to try and see the new in each day and in each moment.  Betty, your post echoed a very important part of that video, when you said:

Maybe eventually all those little ripples will become a small wave and then a larger and larger one until little corners of the world are living in peaceful kind-hearted forgiveness and acceptance.

This really resonates with me, with the work that I'm doing and my intention to cultivate peace in my own heart as the best way to help others.  Thank you for that.

Hugs,
Lori

Betty, thank you for wishing me a peaceful Centering Prayer morning! It was just that, and for this I am grateful.

I, too, like your imagery of waves spreading and growing.
I was once criticized for not making waves. My response was that some perhaps just create undercurrents rippling rigid minds.

And I am grateful that Juliana's cookies turned out well. Things can go wrong, when one translates a recipe not only in language but also in measurements!

I too like the little ripples imagery. It's something we can all do.

Today I'm grateful that I had the courage to go into town and buy a nice piece of furniture. The first on my own!

It is now installed, filled and decorated with some of my knick-knacs. Now I can sit and admire it!!!    J

TODAY I AM GRATEFUL FOR having had a very nice lady from OREGON as my special guest, who had lunch with me and also spent the afternoon here. She is staying in this little corner of the world for a year. We had good talks about "Gott und die Welt" (literally!) She was surprised to find American chocolatechip cookies at my place, saying that they were just right, Edda! It goes to show that we are all inter-connected, doesn´t it, and that it is often the little things that count .

Today I'm grateful for a productive day, and that it was productive at a nice relaxed pace, not rushed or hurried.

Juliana, your most recent post reminds me of a plaque above the front door at St. Minrad's Benedictine Abbey in the states--"Treat all who enter as Christ." Your posts about your house guests sound as though this truly is your motto. Thank you for including "Gott und die Welt". My parents spoke German when we were young. I know so little of it but it was good to understand the phrase.

Today I am grateful for air that has been allowed to "soak" in high humidity and then washed clean in three days of rain. I am also grateful that the "internal" fog of the spirit is not quite as dense today. "Winter(even of the spirit) is always followed by Spring." "Good Friday is always followed by Easter Sunday."

TODAY, I AM GRATEFUL FOR the internet, and for being able to appreciate the possibilities it offers, while many of the friends my age reject using it.

Today I am grateful that I stepped outside my comfort zone and took a trip to a local church that stands on a hill. I forgot to take some camera batteries with me, though, so I only got one shot, but never mind. I can always go back again, now I know the way.

Today I am grateful for the homily at Mass early this morning and the reminder to look at the bright planet of Venus in the pre-dawn sky; for being reminded to begin the day in gratitude that I awoke this morning because 38,000 individuals didn't. I am grateful for the cool early morning breezes coming through the window with the hint and promise of Autumn's arrival when the trees will soon wave their fiery branches in their final dance before renewing themselves in the quiet solitude of winter.

Namaste!

JI am pleased to learn that there are

some small steps forward in the varied problems between me and my Son.
. It always feels so much more painful when the relationship problems are with one whom we have birthed. Each day, may the small steps become a bit larger. Blessings on you both.

Solomon, Thank you for reminding me how important it is to step out of one's comfort zone. It is always a real struggle for me to do that but afterwards, I always seem to be grateful that I did.

Juliana, I too am grateful for the internet and the fact that you use it. It has brought you to our forum, which has been real gift to all here.

TODAY I AM GRATEFUL FOR good results of my yearly health check-up, for another autumn day with a "fierce blue sky" (and for Richard´s using the phrase in his interesting text about mountain peaks), for snow-covered mountains as a backdrop, as well as for Solomon´s reminder how important it is to "step out of one´s comfort zone" - I´ll have to do that more often! I am also grateful for a wonderfully meaningful, intelligent and amusing new Swiss movie, "Die Herbstzeitlosen". It´s about finding meaning and worthwhile tasks in old age, overcoming hypocrisy and gratefully enjoying life.
