Scepticism is good if not taken to extremes. Debunkers on the one side are as narrow minded (maybe even more so) than the gullible on the other. And cynics are not happy individuals.

I did notice that even the people involved weren't sure what to think. The case certainly doesn't "prove" reincarnation as the text posited. It is, as researcher Ian Stevenson states, "suggestive of" reincarnation. There are other possible explanations.

Thank you for your response.
I agree with the general statements which you make. I do not take them as applying to myself, since I have often been accused of being much too open-minded. And if I know anything about myself, cynicism is as far from me as can be. Of course posts are always liable to being misinterpreted, since body-language, which would show the attitude of the poster, is lacking.

Watching the video, I was puzzled (and touched) by two very personal experiences.

The little boy strongly reminded me of my son, who at a young age would be very much interested in weapons, drawing pictures exactly like the ones in the video. I have still got them. The first book he chose in a bookstore was a non-fiction one on weapons, which completely surprised us, as we were trying to raise him to become a defender of peace! (He outgrew the phase, though).

Secondly, a young friend keeps trying to convince me of reincarnation being a fact. It seems to mean very much to her that I should believe in it, too, whereas to me the question is irrelevant, it has no influence on my outlook. Maybe, maybe not... we shall see.

My question was meant to invite my - American as well as European Gratefulness friends - to say what they think of it...

I appreciate what you say about the video in the second paragraph of your post. One can very well leave it at that.

Dear Juliana,
When I first heard about reincarnatin it made perfect sense to me.....don't ask me why!
But if I had to say why, one reason would be that this life would make no real sense otherwise.
It just feels natural to me.
Also, I have had several experiences of having been somewhere before, except I know I haven't. Also of having known people in my life before, even though I haven't in this lifetime. I've also experienced pictures and feelings of what I believe was a previous life.

The idea that we are born into 'groups' with whom we are reborn each time, makes more sense to me the older I get and the more 'special' people I meet.

Lastly, some people do have memories of some or all of their previous lives. I think there is too much evidence in its favour to say categorically that reincarnation is not a possibility.

Dear Jude,

Thank you for responding to my question. I can see your point. The reason you give, with life making no sense otherwise, is the one my young friend also uses. As for myself, I haven´t had any of the experiences you mention, and I feel my life does make sense with all its ups and downs. But I accept and respect everybody else´s memories and experiences. I will be asking questions and trying to understand the beliefs and views of others to the end of my days, I guess.

Love,
Juliana

Alchemist, thank you for the link to the video about the boy who rememberd his last incarnation.  What I really liked about it is that he was able to heal the trauma of it all  by going back and resolving it.

Thanks Fred for the video what am I.  The words are beautiul.  I echo Judes thoughts about the dance.

Jude and Freddy, the gentle art is blessing is something I should watch every day......... at least once. to incorporate the act of blessing  into as many moments in my day as possible.  Thank you

Juliana, I read your question.  For some, their soul's journey is to believe such matters without questioning.   For others, its their soul journey to question such things.  For others, their soul journey may be to completely reject.  Often the answers  to the questions asked are found in time....... by the very person asking the question.  The most important thing, I think, is to keep questioning.  Being a skeptic is good !!!

I will revisit and watch the rest of the videos later. Thank you all for the links.  With love to you, liliwings

Lilsparrow and All,

I have only now noticed that there is a book to the link, too. Just in case you haven´t done so already: mouseclick in the right-hand lower corner. One can even ´flip` the pages - something I have never done before.

Re:Videos which are uplifting... - 7/19/2009 9:38 PM ( #391 )
I just watched a video that was quite beautiful, as far as I am concerned.  It is called Thousand-Hand Guan Yin     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgHmSdpjEIk
Guan Yin is the bodhisattva of compassion, revered by Buddhists as the Goddess of Mercy. Her name is short for Guan Shi Yin. Guan means to observe, watch, or monitor; Shi means the world; Yin means sounds, specifically sounds of those who suffer. Thus, Guan Yin is a compassionate being who watches for, and responds to, the people in the world who cry out for help.
What makes this video even more amazing, is that all of the performers are deaf.
Love, liliwings

Dear Liliwings,
I never got back to the Thousand Hand Guan Yin until now. It's much easier to miss things now I find. But it was worth getting back to....absolutely stunning and so clever.
Also the Song and Dance video. Lovely. Thank you.
Something soft and gentle to send me to bed!

Love,
Jude

Thank you, Betty, for the slide show! It is a good reminder that the bible is full of imperfect people, and they all accomplished what God intended.

Love,
Edda
Peace and joy!
