Sparrow, thanks for the pictures of the variety of hostas! I see some of them around my neighbor hood! I like your birdhouse as well! What kind of birds visit there?

Liliwings, your orange rose is breathtaking as is the white flower that looks like it is covered in angel stars. The pink and yellow flowers are wonderful. The Epiphylium is gorgeous as is the white peacock and orchids. The birds are unbelievable.  The one looks like it has a ruffled bib on it and is now ready to eat.PLEASE, take a bow!

Sparrow, everytime I see pictures from your garden I want to come for a visit. They are always such a special invitation to just come and be still for a while.  The story of your Grand Canyon trip is really special.  Someday your grandchildren, if you have any, will be able to show everyone your “little girl” picture in the
National Geographic.  You did it again with your hostas.  Now I just want to curl up on your veranda and soak it all in.

Jude, dear, may I offer you the job of Botanist in Chief for the
Grateful for Beauty thread.  Not only do you know the names of them all, they grow well for you and your pictures of them are a real gift.  I would love to have flowers that grow 7 ft tall and then add the roses, the sweet peas, soapwort.  Could you send a couple of the plums.  They look like they would make a wonderful afternoon snack.  Your moo cows are really cute.  Papa Bull seems to be totally enjoying his Harem.  Suzie looks like she wants to see just what your camera is.  Maybe she thinks it is something to eat.

T.O.  I love you “Vitamin F” for flowers and “Vitamin B” for beauty.  May you also know mow much you are loved and appreciated.

Buba, the designs in the tree were it threw it’s bark are fascinatingly beautiful.  The bark looks like thin pieces of gray and blue paper.  You always show me new places to look for beauty. I agree with Liliwings.  You TRULY ARE THE QUEEN OF CELL PHONE CAMERAS. Thank you.  I am pleased that both you and Liliwings have decided that the new format has “new Toys” that you like.

Thank you dear Betty!
Do you still remember how we all were confused with "new toys" and didn't like the new look of Forum menu? But now we used to it and even like some toys!
Talking about Sparrow's Garden, I share your opinion !

And Jude really IS the Botanist in Chief for the Grateful for Beauty thread.

Dear Sandra, thank you for keep in touch with us all through your beautiful pictures!!!

Ah liliwings . . .
I love the tender little face of the hummingbird . . .
I heard part of the interview you mentioned
with Joel Gray
and you know,
I too,
immediately thought of our Buba!
. . . and Buba,
your tree bark
is marvelous!
We have some trees with bark that peels off,
but none as unusual as yours!

I like your birdhouse as well! What kind of birds visit there?
Edda, I think only this one
Am I right Sparrow???
Yes, you are right . . .

Goodness,what a bunch of dignitaries we have here . . .
I am suitably humbled--
Botanist in Chief,
Queen of the Cellphone Camera . . .
and yes, our Secret Photographer
hiding in the bushes . . .
and Messenger Supreme
who acts on SPHitB's behalf--
my favorite is the last,
with the ivy(?)
growing inside of the tree trunk . . .
these are all so lovely!
Thank you everyone
for sending me off to my evening
with visions of sugarplums
and flowers
and birds
and beauty
with love . . .

more pictures
from a rather soggy day
yesterday . . .

The astilbe are especially for Jude,
as she is so very fond of them . . .

more soggy leaves . . .
seedum, brunnera and periwinkle . . .

bleeding hearts for Sandra . . .

alchemillia for Diane . . .

maiden hair ferns for Betty . . .

and a few rain-soaked rocks . . .

. . .

I know it is too many,
but this morning
I couldn't decide among them.

A sunnier day for everyone
with love . . .

Sparrow, dear,
I really have to disagree with you
You have definitely NOT posted too many.  When there are several of your
garden, it gives me time to quietly walk through your "meditation gardens"

Thank you for the picture of the ferns.  They have always
been a favorite of mine.  The many different kinds would always add special
interest and unusual beauty to floral arrangements.  If I lived near you, I
would be cutting flowers and greenery constantly and making floral
arrangements to give away.  Thank you for all the effort you put in to giving us
all such a beautiful space to just "be".
Please, keep

Re:Today, I'm grateful for beauty... - 7/22/2009 11:18 AM ( #2890 )
sparrow and any one else who may be wondering,

there has never been too much beauty or too many photos you or anyone has posted for my taste

have at it i say

you can never have too many flowers photos to marvel at, appreciate too much beauty every day,  have too many friends, wear too many smiles, enjoy too may moments of laughter,  know too many times that the wonders of this life took your breath away, help others less fortunate too many times, be too earnest in your prayers, love god too much, be in awe of the wonder of life too much, or spend too much time simply delighting in the glory of this life and all that if offers every single day

i regularly crack up at all your posts but today calling our friend jude the botanist in chief was so right on that i got a real chuckle out of it - because she really is and i for one love learning the names of beautiful things as it helps me to feel closer to them - you go jude

i know this thread is about beauty and that there are others threads for written comments, but ...

i woke up thinking about this paul simon song fifty ways to leave your lover

and our beloved cheeky nanny and all the many others who are embarking on new ventures, new thought processes, new ways of looking at the world, new ways of grieving, new ways of coming to grips with situations in their lives, etc. ...

and wanted to send them a little encouragment to go for it, as each of you so richly deserve a beautiful life ...

so i thought i would post it as i, too, am slipping out the back jack and making a new plan stan and starting a new life with beauty in it

You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free

Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

Thank you, dear Buba,

for mentioning this song. My son used to sing it. I can still hear him singing it...

Dear Betty  thank you for posting cheeky nanny's photos. And she even has them copywritten now.  Good for her !!  they are awesome.  Thank you for posting them here.  The photo of  tree trunk really caused me to gasp.
Liliwings, your orange rose is breathtaking as is the white flower that looks like it is covered in angel stars. The pink and yellow flowers are wonderful. I shall take a bow Betty for my ability to google, copy and paste
Your commentaries and gratitude to each person for the beauty they posted is heartwarming.  Thank you for taking the time to be so nurturing and appreciative

I completely agree with what Betty and Buba have said. so I will just paste what Buba said, and second that
Talking about Sparrow's Garden, I share your opinion !

Dear Sandra, thank you for keep in touch with us all through your beautiful pictures!!!

Sparrow, thank you for more photos of your sanctuary.  I truely at one point did not even think it could possibly be the land around your home.  It looked like something one could only find on google.  But your land, your home..... the photos rival those I find on google search.  so beautiful Sparrow.  Both your home and the property around it.  I agree with Betty re "too many photos"  No it wasnt too many at all !!!!  Each one is a beautiful addition.  So please do not limit what you post

Dear T.O  thank you for your beautiful words.  They surely are wonderful to read !!!

Blessings and gratefulness to all for your lovely photos.

May I second that emotion?

I just love this little smiley
and his paint can . . .
how he stops to shake it
half way through!
These photographs all
are so very very beautiful . . .
how they so perfectly
and indiviually
pick out that one little mushroom
and immortalize it.
It's little unassuming life
is caught forever
frozen in time.

May I second this emotion as well?

for saying it all so well . . .
you are right.
We can never have too much love
in our lives.

The astilbe are especially for Jude, as she is so very fond of them . . .

I am indeed! My aunt Nancy had tall white ones in her garden that were originally in her mother's garden...my grandmother. I wish I had had the forethought to dig some up for my garden. The pink ones are one of my favourite colours. I think they remind me of candy-floss (cotton candy)
