'Big lip', Diane?
. . . or is it something like washing an Avalanche?

I will try the garlic spray,
dear liliwings . . .
it can't smell any worse than the Bob-ex spray!

The 'sculpture', Jude,
almost created itself.
I started piling rocks that I found on the property,
and now there are little cairns all through the garden
guiding me home
with love . . .

Sparrow, it helped me to bring the garlic thing into consciousness. I realized that maybe I can deter the beetles from my rose bushes.  All I have to do is wait until they start flying.  Then spray the bushes. i think that it will be before the new crop of buds come out.  A window of opportunity when the beetles are flying and the new buds have come out.  Wouldnt it be great if I had more flowers to crystallize.  I was not very dilligent about doing it during the first bloom.  So maybe this idea will work well.  I know bettles need to eat. But I need to have the flowers to use as barter.  Or gifts to those who give their services so freely without asking much in return.

The photo that Betty posted inspired me to look for northern lights pictures.

Dear Lili, Perhaps we could travel from Sweden to Switzerland, all in a matter of minutes

Third floor balcony view in Murren Switzerland

Second floor balcony view in Lauterbruenn

The Budda of the Mountains in Engelberg Switzerland

Inside a glacier in Mt Titlis Switzerland

Lili thank you for the wonderfully magically pictures of Tasha Tudor and her life.  They look so very warming, cozy and comfy.  She must have been a very special woman.  It is such a gift to all of us that you enjoy going on line and finding pictures.  I love the one with the man laying on the beach with the seals and truly seem like a small piece of heaven sent down to earth to be enjoyed
Diane, I so envy your being able to go to the ocean whenever you want.  Whata rare and peace filled gift.  When our sons were in college in California, they loved to camp out overnight on the beach. I love your description of a “big lip on me right now.”  I don’t know if it is what you meant, but I could picture this little girl sitting in front of her computer with a huge “pout” on her face and her bottom lip protruding and quivering.  The picture in my mind made me smile.
Jude, the water pictures are absolutely stunning.  They are all so entrancing that it would be completely impossible to pick a favorite.  The mirror image reflection of the castle almost invites one across the glasslike water.  The river meandering between the trees is just waiting for a boat to be launch so it can carry one to all its secret coves  and little nooks of solitude.
Barbara, thank you for posting the very special link.
Sparrow, once again you have given us all such a wonderful servind of Vitamin F and Vitamin L with the peace filled pictures from your “Secret Garden”  The pictures
are such a reminder of the book where every inch of space is covered with created beauty.  I agree with Buba, you do have a magical garden
Buba, your skies are such restful seas of blue.  Yes, I too, must disagree with your Son.  There are hearts in your one sky picture.   Once again, you have reminded us all to look for beauty in the ordinary everyday around us.  Your pictures of the dried flower arrangement is an extraordinary example of how very much Vitamins F and L are provided us by these gifts of nature even when they are no longer alive.
Lili, your roses are such remarkable works of art.  What an incredible gift to give others that is so filled with your love and creativity.  The pictures of the Northern Lights are breathtaking.

Blessings to all on your weekend.  May it be filled with unending experiences of beauty.

Dear liliwings . . .
I too, loved the photograph of the man stretched out on the beach with the seals . . .
always love things that demonstrate our kinship to fellow beings . . .
and your northern lights are exquisite.
When I was a child,
my mother woke me up once
in the middle of the night
to see the northern lights . . .
it is the only time I have seen them so dramatically.
And your sugar roses are definitely
too beautiful to eat!

Betty dear,

Third floor balcony view in Murren Switzerland

and

Second floor balcony view in Lauterbruenn

You must be kidding!
I would never go to sleep
if I had a view like that outside my window!
Thank you also,
for clearing up the mystery of Diane's 'big lip'.
I couldn't imagine . . .
but to quote our Sandra,
"I am not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree."
Thank you for sharing so much that is beautiful in the world . . .
it makes me looke at my world in a different way
with love . . .

Re:Today, I'm grateful for beauty... - 8/2/2009 8:27 PM ( #3009 )
Since I don't have any new snaps from Cheeky Nanny, I will have to again post some of my own.  Buba, CONGRATULATIONS ON THE NEW CAMERA!!! Knowing how wonderful your cell phone snaps are, I look forward to tomorrow to see some from the new camera.

I took all of these in my beloved Chicago

These last two were taken as Ireland so graciously displayed her swans and the forever promise of her many rainbows.

In return to her, may I wish each of you a new week filled with the beauty of Irish rainbows,

Sparrow, you are right, several nights I sat out on both Swiss balconies most of the night.

Hugs and prayers to all,

Re:Today, I'm grateful for beauty... - 8/2/2009 9:51 PM ( #3010 )
Hi Everyone!

So far so good on this sweet old laptop of mine which is having some tempermantal issue's and yes the "big lip" was perfectly described.
So much beauty shared  and I wanted to respond to all of it! Thankfully it's able right now!

LILIWINGS!
Wow...What a tour of the northen lights I have never witnessed them myself. The closet thing is when they shoot up these weather rockets sometimes and the atmosphere does wonderful things with the discharged gases which turns all kinds of colors too. I sat here speechless in all the beauty of their lights and the reflecting waters...hmmmmmmmm....ahhhhhhhh.....

Taking the tour with Betty to Switzerland was a great journey for me today! I knew I would love to visit there one day. I agree it would be hard to sleep with such "AWE" surrounding one self there. I am such a fan of so much of the Swiss made chocolates and there precision work in watches and clocks and even make-up. I love their styles of homes and those mountains are breathtaking to me. Another...AHHHHHHH...from me on our joint cyber travel together.

Then to go to Chicago and capture the beautiful plant life and birds and sky!
Wow another unexpected pleasure for me today. That blue flower with the close up shot is so very exquisite. Is it a orchid? Beautiful blue and white colors and its middle looks like a mini person/angel to me. The swans and the rainbow and your words that accompany them....just loving the colors!

Lilsparrows gardens really is magical! I think so too!

Oh and Liliwings roses definately to beautiful to eat! Do you really eat them?
I know you can but have never tried one that I can rememeber. Expecially crystallized like you do them. I know you spoke about it before but my memory is barely remembering the whole story you shared. Just other kinds like nasturshum (hope its spelt right) and the famous Hawaain flowers they use on lei's hmmmm.....Plumeria and social garlic to name a few!
Thank you for all the beautiful snaps and poetic words and beautiful loving blessings for this week everyone!

Peace, Love and Joy,
Diane

Harbor seals at Children's Pool During the pupping season there are many baby seals on this part of the beach. It is called the Child's Pool but the seals have repopulated the area the past say about 7 years and there is an on going battle verses swimmers and seal lover's. Hopefully it will get settled now as a judge just gave the city jurisdiction and it doesn't have the funds to relocate them. Thousands come just to visit this spot because of the seals now. They are so fun to watch and everyone enjoys there presence for the most part. They have a 24 hour group that works on protecting them from the publis and also educating everyone too!
It was originally built for a place for young children to swim around the 1930's/20's if I am recalling well!

Here's were my son surf's most often it is called Scripp's a little down from
La Jolla Shores! So when I often have written about my trips with him there  this is it most likely! They have a huge oceanagraphy research department there on the hills above and on the pier too. Maybe one day we could set up our beach chairs here too! Think about all the beautiful places we will have to visit to visit with each other maybe one day! Hope you enjoyed you tour of Sunny Southern California beaches.

Thank you Betty for the beautiful pictures. I too especially like the blue flower, and the swans are lovely.

I'm sure I could spend some time there!!
