Sorry this is the second time I am posting email photos but these really fascinated me.
Amazing....and deceiving!
These are murals painted on the flat sides of buildings by trick-of-the-eye artist John Pugh
Main Street, Los Gatos, California. Even the woman peering into the ruin is part of the mural.
Taylor Hall, California State University, Chico , California . The Doric-style columns are actually nothing but paint.
Honolulu, Hawaii. This mural took two months of studio work to plan and another six months to execute with the help of 11 other artists. Featured are Queen Liliuokalani, the last monarch of the Hawaiian Islands, and Duke Kahanamoku, the ultimate father of surfing.
This mural at the Cafe Trompe L'oeil, San Jose, California, is entitled Art Imitating Life Imitating Art Imitating Life. This customer doesn't leave at closing time.
Twenty-nine Palms, California. Valentine the bull and a patient buzzard are waiting for the artist to awake.
Bay in a Bottle, Santa Cruz, California . The passer-by is part of the mural.
Slowin' Down to Take a Look in Winslow, Arizona. Included, of course, is "a girl, my lord, in a flat bed Ford slowin'down to take a look at me."
Buba, I love your flowers, especially the rose with the smoke in the background and the orange mums-portraits of the beauty of autumn. Your second video is a wonderful gift to just allow one self to be wrapped in. The music is perfect. What a very special tribute to your Mom, the true Rose of your life whose love for you will never die.
Your dad burning leaves reminds me when I was a little kid. Way, way back then, all the chemicals weren’t used to fertilize soil. Every late fall, we burned all the leaves and grass. This provided excellent natural fertilizer to the soil and his lawn was always the greenest and most weed free. I loved when we burned the leaves. Nothing else smells quite the same. I know they say it’s bad for the environment but so are all the chemicals that are used. Sounds like your dad knows well how to keep good healthy soil.
Isabella, dear, thank you so much for posting the bambi picture and the picture of the sea on the Beauty thread. Bambi looks like she is just waiting for someone to pet her or let her eat out of one’s hand. The sea and rocks call out for one to come sit and just “be still.” I too long to be at that place.
Sandra, thank you for posting the flowers, again they are exquisite. I guess I am just more ready for the quite introspective contemplation that autumn and winter
provide—the long dark quiet nights and quiet mornings where a gentle hush, be still, seems to blanket this little corner of the universe and calls us to return to our Center.
Blessings to all on the rest of your week.
Betty
