Sparrow, more lovelies from your garden! I have to say I am just as fascinated by the ironwork in the one of cut globe thistles!
And the brown-eyed susans...some of my favourite kind of flowers.

Oh dear.  I must have been gong a long time.  Many pages of pictures stories and loving comments since I was last here.

going back,

Jude, I honestly cannot imagine how wonderful it would feel to be at the cliffs or rocks by the beach.  the areas you showed are aswesome.  Then the countryside, green lush beautiful.  The buildings.  Wow bath sure is an amazing city.  all of your photos are a front row guided tour through some of the wonderful places in England.  Thank you for showing us some lovely  homes you did not live in

Sparrow Your pictures bring to me
the taste of maple 'syrup'
right out of the tree . . .
I tasted it once like this
and have never forgotten.

yes,. and I do believe that where you live they have their fair share of maple trees.  Yes?
hen and chickens here
because where there is a big one,
there will soon be little ones
gathering around . . .

Well thank you for that information Sparrow. I did not know why they were called that.  They are so pretty. reminds me of a succlent green rose.

I always like looking at your window photos.  So magical in every way.  It sort of reminds me of  Tasha Tudor, if you know who she is.

Your nature photos are beautiful. I just love begonias. So many different colors and varieties.  And your globe thistle is beautiful.  The design in them is pretty awesome. reminds me of Fibonacci in life.  the intricate patterns which make total sense in the deepest ways.
Betty, thank you for more beautiful nature photos by our own Cheeky Nanny.  They are, as always, a deep breath of beauty in nature

Juliana,  I am glad that your story had a good ending.  Glad for you all.   I could just imagine you all working so hard to free your friend from the sand.  It must have been very harrowing at the time. and then filled with gratefulness indeed.

buba !!!  your progressions photos are wonderful.  The green green grapes that came to full ripeness and ready to eat.  The various stages of the hosta .  you and your cell phone camera are an inspiring team.  A commentary on how when we make the best of embracing what we have, it can be pretty darned great !!  And oh yes,  I also appreciated the stages of Buba at the end of your post

Wewwwww I finished expressing my joy and gratefulness for all your posts. I think I need a nap now.  Just joking.  Sending love, liliwings

Dear Jude . . .
The ironwork is the seat of my garden bench . . .
I didn't mention it because I didn't think anyone would notice . . .

Oh Buba!
I love your beforeandafters!!
How perfectly delightful!
Next we must see the hosta lily in bloom
(unless of course,
you have voracious deer feeding).

I am honoured,
dear liliwings,
that you should mention me in the same sentence as Tasha Tudor.
I had not heard of her,
but of course
had to google her . . .
did you know her?
(I noticed that she was from Vermont).
ps. my maple syrup from the tree incident
occurred when I lived in Maine . . .
yes, I lived there too!
. . . perhaps my favorite home . . .
so close to the ocean . . .

a lovely summer evening
to all of you
with love . . .

Buba, what can I say—your greenery, roof top plants, roses, the fairies hair—all wonderful.  I think you and your camera should get cell phone photographer of the year. You work wonders with it.

Just now seeing your before and after pictures of the grapes and “family growth chart” of the lilies, it is even more astounding what you can capture with a phone camera.  You deserve a special break.

Diane, when can we leave for your beach and ocean.  It is georgeous.  Thank you for putting out all the beach chairs, I would love to come but it would be so very difficult to leave again

Liliwings, your pictures of Vermont are breathtaking.  What a wonderous fragment of God’s creative masterpiece.  What can be said about the Maple syrup—there are no words eloquent enough to describe this true burnished amber gift of the gods. I can’t even imagine what it must taste like right out of the tree.  I miss the pictures of your gardens dear Lili.  The New England area has been a very favorite of mine for a long long time.  I love it’s sheer craggy coastline and the crashing sometimes angry ocean.

T.O.  What a fantastic idea—“next year we could all meet . .  .  .somewhere”
Until then, perhaps we can all dream we are meeting and taking those long walks together.

Jude, I had no idea that England had such extraordinary nature scenery.  When thinking about European travel last year, I had rather chalked off England.  Thank you for posting so much of its impressive natural beauty.  It adds to the sense of familyhood to see places where you used to live.  I had often heard about the white cliffs of Dover but didn’t have any idea of how beautiful they are.  If ever I am in Europe again, your pictures have convinced me of the natural wonder of England and the beauty of its cities.

Sparrow,
dear, to me any large body of water that becomes one with the horizon is a seemingly endless distance is a very grace filled place to heal.  Every time I see pictures taken through your window, I just want to pull up a rocking chair and “be” while waiting for all those gentle bambies to come up out of the woods.  What an unbelievable gift of piece your “yard” must be.  The rains truly have nourished your
flowers to an incredible lushness.  All of the pictures of your habitat give one pause, but especially the pulmonaria and fern, my favorites.  Is your work basket filled with crocheting??  I have never done it with thred, only yarn.  How very talented you are.  Blessings for sharing the beauty of you with all of us.

All I can say to all your pictures is mmmmmmmmmmmm or to borrow Diane’s phrase AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH.  You  have added very precious jewel like moments to the evening of my day.  AsSparrow once said, they truly provide us all with "Vitamin L".  May they return to you a hundred fold.
to all. A Blessed and peace filled evening.

Yes Betty . . .
I feel that way too,
although
there is something about the salt air . . .
maple juice taken directly from the tree
tastes like very thin, light and delicately maple~
much more subtle than what we put on our pancakes.
A beautiful day to you . . .
a day filled with unique miracles and beauty
that can only be had
on this day
with love . . .

Buba, I thought of you when I saw this after I got back from Mass this morning.  If you look closely, there is a heart a little above the left hand side middle of the picture.

This is from Karin, the Moderator of the GGG Forum on Gratefulness.  She is also an excellent photographer and calls this "Woman on My Balcony."

Sparrow,
I never met Tasha Tudor. She lived in the southern part of Vermont. I live in the  north.  Someone, many years ago gave me a book of her gardens and home.  It was magical

Betty  "I can’t even imagine what it must taste like right out of the tree."
nor can I.  But I do like Sparrow's description.

thank you for posting Karin's  "woman on my balcony"  It is wonderful.
As usual, cheeky nanny's photos are breathtaking.  Sometimes "breathaking photos allow me to breathe more deeply.  The angle that was used to take the painted daisey is really smart !!  I also love the orange colored roses.  So beautiful.  Sandra is one with her camera, it seems.  She has such an eye for how to take each shot.  I heard someone on internet radio talking with a musician, activist and photographer.  The commentator was saying that 10 people could take a photo of the exact same thing.  And each photo would have a different perspective. I think that Sandra's perspective is a great gift.

I am enjoying going online to find pictures.  It makes me very happy to do so

Line (Green Woman)
has got me started to think,
as her name means 'brook' . . .
'Being' an Aquarius
these water pictures speak to me . . .
all of them . . .
each one in its unique way . . .
which makes me think
of the infinite powers of water~
to nourish,
to destroy,
to soothe and heal,
to refresh and inspire . . .
cradle,
and thrust us forward,
downward,
over and under.
If we do not fight the currents,
but flow with them
our Source will take us where we need to go.

. . . which brings to mind
a little something from 'Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah'
by Richard Bach . . .

"...once there lived a village of creatures along the bottom of a great crystal river. The current of the river swept silently over them all--young and old, rich and poor, good and evil, the current going its own way, knowing only its own crystal self.

Each creature in its own manner clung tightly to the twigs and rocks of the river bottom, for clinging was their way of life, and resisting the current what each had learned from birth.

But one creature said at last, 'I am tired of clinging. Though I cannot see it with my eyes, I trust that the current knows where it is going. I shall let go, and let it take me where it will. Clinging, I shall die of boredom.'

The other creatures laughed and said, 'Fool! Let go, and that current you worship will throw you tumbled and smashed across the rocks, and you will die quicker than boredom!'

But the one heeded them not, and taking a breath did let go, and at once was tumbled and smashed by the current across the rocks. Yet in time, as the creature refused to cling again, the current lifted him free from the bottom, and he was bruised and hurt no more.

And the creatures downstream, to whom he was a stranger, cried, 'See a miracle! A creature like ourselves, yet he flies! See the Messiah, come to save us all!'

And the one carried in the current said, 'I am no more Messiah then you. The river delights to lift us free, if only we dare let go. Our true work is this voyage, this adventure.'

But they cried the more, 'Savior!' all the while clinging to the rocks, and when they looked again he was gone, and they were left alone making legends of a Saviour."

Sparrow, dear, thank you for a wonderful story.  It reminds me of a quote that I keep posted to my desktop.  "True spirituality consists in that we STOP SWIMMING  and learn how to float and allow the water to take us where it wills.  Below are two pictures I received in my email this morning.

Sorry I have to run to Dr's appointment.  Back later.

A few offerings
between the thunder storms . . .

filipendula (Queen of the Prarie) pink
with the bee balm in the back . . .

filipendula up close . . .
one of my favorites.
I love the star shaped leaves and the fluffy blooms . . .

(I don't know why it came out so large)
. . . a view looking down from the north side

some purple bee balm
in front of the red . . .
not good focus,
but I love the colour . . .

looking across the front of the upper garden . . .

and the next ones are all from another year . . .
the echinacaea
comes every year,
but the deer got to them this year . . .

These were some spring specialty bulbs
I splurged on,
but they only came up once . . .

yellow canna up front,
but I never planted them again
as they attracted Japanese beetles . . .

and a lovely supposedly shade loving Veronica
that just simply petered out . . .
but beautiful while they lasted

Now take your vitamins . . .

alll the magical photos here.  And the words of the deepest wisdom I know of.

Jude the photos you put up are amazing.  I like the first one the best.  With the reflection in the water

Sparrow, first, I too have never forgotten the words in Illusions.  I read it decades ago and those words stuck with me since.  Thank you for putting them there exactly as they are.  Gives a deeper meaning to the song row row ...your boat...  life is but a dream.

The photos you put up are so beautiful.  Your north garden, upper garden, well everything.  Did you know that there is a very easy way to keep japanese beetles away from plants you just do not want eaten?  you can blend in a blender cloves of garlic with water.  Strain and put in spray bottle.  spray the plant.  they will not bother that plant again for the remainder of the season.  I did it for basil. How perfect,  basil and garlic !!  I do not do it for my roses which I crystallize in sugar.  Best not to confuse people when they are eating my roses.  I share my roses with the beetles.  they get some roses, I get some.

Again Sparrow, thank you for that passage from Illusions.

Buba, you surely do take magical photos of the sky.  I like the clouds with varying degrees of sunlight.  The jet trails picture is awesome.  And then your dried floral arrangement.  I cant imagine you could do any better with more pixels.  Your photos are absolutely clear and taken with artistic eye !!

Betty...... wowwwwwwwww, those photos are awesome.  Is the first one of a lake??   "True spirituality consists in that we STOP SWIMMING  and learn how to float and allow the water to take us where it wills.
ahhhhhh so easy to do Thats a very good line to put where I can read it many times each day. Thank you

Diane, oh to be able to go to the ocean whenever the mood strikes.  ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh  it must be amazing.

Barbara, I am grateful to see you here on the beauty thread.

No need to spend endless hours, days, weeks searching for the rainbow.  Open your heart and your eyes to see and know you are the rainbow you seek.  Rejoyce in the beauty of the co-creation of you.
