Thankful One, Thank you for the beautiful flowers and interesting pictures of Valentine cards, as well as for the information on Valentine“s Day. As you can see from the list of countries which celebrate it, Austria is not among them. Years ago it was no special day for us over here. Lately, however, it has become THE occasion for florists to sell flowers. That would not be bad in itself, if most of the flowers did not come from countries where they are produced under inhuman conditions. Moreover, they are flown thousands of miles to reach Europe. On the positive side, more and more florists are beginning to sell "fair trade" and locally grown flowers. As for cards, we have not adopted that tradition. I have had one Valentine card in my life, from (then) friends in the US. It reads, "Where Love is there God is". To me, it is a constant reminder to meditate on the nature of what is most important for all human beings - LOVE. Wishing all of you what it says inside the card, "You are precious and you are loved. God bless and love you". Juliana _____________________________ Speak Peace in a World of Conflict
