Leaving for Ft. Riley - to see my Son & family for a week, before he goes to Iraq.  Joel will be gone for 18 months.
Lord, Keep Joel strong in body & mind.  Help him to lead
his men/women.  Lord keep your army around them 24/7. In your name, Amen.

My name is Shannon Kaye, Joel is my husband who will be leaving us very soon for Iraq.  Where he is headed is a very dangerous city north of Bagdad.  Please pray for my husband to come home to us.  My 3 children need their daddy.  Emma, Ethan & Ezra.   I pray everyday that all of our troops will come home, TODAY!  I'm afraid - I never want to be without my husband.
I picked up my in-laws the other day at the airport in Kansas City.  All the soliders that were on the plane coming home for a 2 week R & R.  Their families crying w/happiness; the hugs; cheers; it made me cry, because I know that will be me in a few weeks.    Also, on this plane; one flagged casket coming home.  PLEASE LORD, DON'T LET MY JOEL, BE IN HARMS WAY.  SURROUND YOUR ARMIES OF PROCTECTION AROUND HIM AND HIS UNIT.
I'm new to this site, introduced to me by my mother-in-law.  I need all of you at this time in my life.  Please pray for our troops; My husband Joel - for safety; wisdom; courage.
God Bless all of you.
Shannon Kaye

Welcome to the forum, Shannon! Your mother-in-law has kept us updated on Joel and your family. There have been candles burning for you all along. Currently there are two groups Debbie has started for you, "Joel" and "EEE" (your three precious children). I hope your family visit is good even though bittersweet. You and all your family are in my prayers,
Edda

Dear Debbie, thank you for your kind words.
I have lit a candle for Joel and his family.  I too share your worries about Iraq because my daughters boyfriend is being sent there in three weeks time.  This is particularly heartbreaking for me because she still grieving losing her big brother last May.  I only have two children, one now in heaven, and the other worried sick that she will lose her boyfriend to this horrible conflict.
When will we have peace in this world, a place where our young men can stay safe?
Your in my heart and thoughts Debbie and I wish you peace.

Our time is growing shorter as our son, Joel will be leaving 5/5/07.  The Army keeps changing the date.  He could leave tomorrow.
Bless our troops in harms way - Lord bring them all home.
Love & prayers to all who have lost a soldier in this senseless war.  I feel their sorrow.  So many w/broken hearts; loss of a parent.
When you visit an Army base you see the grief.
Please pray & light a candle "JOEL" for all to come home safe.  No more death!

Dear Lord in Heaven - hear my prayer:
Lord, Thou art a God of peace and desires that we should live and let live. Thou loves all mankind - not just a chosen few. I know Thou has sent Thy Son, Jesus, my Savior, into the world of sin to bring peace on earth. Yet the wickedness and selfishness of man has brought on wars and strife, death and destruction. Lord I beseech Thee, to touch the hearts of rulers/ leaders /Presidents / Prime Ministers; to have compassion that each may strive to maintain peace among the children of men.
Lord in Heaven, my son is getting ready to head back to Iraq. Please protect Joel, who is in the UNITED STATES ARMY. Grant that the faith which is in my son from his childhood to his

adulthood, remains untouched; unshaken through the many temptations that will come his way. Help Joel to conquer all fears, discouragement, homesickness and doubt. Help him go grow as a wise leader to his men. Stand at his side every second of every hour of every day.
Lord, as I pray of my son, Joel, touch his heart w/my words; let him feel the presence of home, love, family. Let him pray w/me. We will be parted by many miles Lord, let our prayers meet at Thy throne of grace. Return my son unsullied in character, unshaken in faith, and ever Loyal to Thee, the eternal Caretaker of our lives. Bless Joel and his family, I ask this in Jesus' name, my Savior and Guide. Amen.

Dear Debbie,  your prayer for your son Joel has touched me deeply.  My daughters boyfriend has also had the date for his departure brought forward to 4/5/07, so he will be leaving at about the same time as Joel.  My daughter, Helen, is almost insane with fear for him.  I see her struggle so hard to be brave for him, but her heart is breaking.  She now has to face the first anniversary of losing her big brother Andrew on her own, with the added heartbreak of her boyfriend being in a warzone.
I share your fears Debbie, and I too pray for peace.  Lets pray that this dreadful war ends and our boys are returned to us safely.
You are in my prayers and I will continue to light a candle for Joel.
Andrew's mum, Marie.

Dear Debbie: Although I only add comments about once a week (on Sundays usually), you, Joel and his family are in my prayers as I light the silent candles. Due to time constraints I don't write every day. I feel for you.

May God bless all of you and your loved ones, and may the children be adjusting well to their surroundings, if they haven't already.

Regards,
Emil (EM)
