I met Antonella for the irst time a few years ago, when a common friend asked me if I could keep an eye on her freshly arrived in Brussels for a stage at one of the numerous European Institutions.

We come from different regions, with different backgrounds, but somehow we hit immediately.

After her stage I lost track of her for a while, I got messages from time to time, but it wasn't until she announced that she would come back to Belgium that I hadthe opportunity to really catch up with her.

I  offered to lodge her for the time it would take for her to find a place of her own, she's moving out tomorrow.

Tonight when she got home I hd the immediate feeling something was wrong.

Trying to break my curiosity and wish to help I waited until she told me.

She is about to undergo a competition in order to become a permanent official, but her mind is not into it.

I sense she wants to do it and to succeed and I know she's competent enough to at least give it a try, but she feels so down she threatens to skip the written part which is due on Friday.

Please pray that whatever the Almighty has in mind for her she has the strength to go thorugh it.

As usual, thanks for your contining support,

Best

Chiara

Dear Chiara, thank you for sharing your story about your friend Antonella. It is sometimes difficult to discern what is the right decision for us. Many things get in the way, especially fear of failure or a sense of duty to do what is not really the right thing. One may seem well equipped for a position yet it may not be a good fit. It is important to pay attention to those inner feelings. You can help Antonella by listening to her. Sometimems talking something out may help to clarify things.

I will light a candle for her in the ALL group

I hope you are well!
Much love,
Edda
