Man is developing - is evolving - and not having yet arrived at full growth and maturity he cannot help but feel angst or anxiety - a Weltschmerz - especially, with a revolution of consciousness, with a heightened, growing, changing awareness in which we are in process of forming a Weltanschauung, a new philosophy of life, a new conception of ourselves - that is, of course, if we can hold off a holocaust.
Fortunately - and hopefully - there is something seminal and exciting emerging in our country and the world in that we are realizing that the meaning of life and true progress lies in serving others, in giving ouselves to others in a devotion to a calling beyond one's self (metaneeds)...which is without exception the key to self-actualization. (In fact, all those not committed to metaneeds, over and above the basic needs, fall prey to meaninglessness or 'existential vacuum'!)
There is so, so much we must become aware of to improve the quality of our lives which is all in our grasp if we can but respond, expanding and deepening our awareness and consciousness, going beyond all limits, fusing with the cosmos in the attainment of genuine peace - goodwill - and creative harmony, knowing no bounds, toward a safer - happier - more prosperous and peaceful world...
Of course, we must never naively expect that there won't be any more problems or conflicts, but rather that through ever-greater insights man will become more and more human, i.e., thoroughly comprehensive - all-embracing - universal, in a spirit of self-determination and self-direction, striving toward the Promised Land, here-now, in tune with the firmament, with the Tao as truly human, loving, rational, sensible persons reconstructing the very highest, most wholesome, cosmological pinnacle in the humanistic quest of soul growth - of an international civil service of dedicated, deeply enriched, and enlivened beings devoid of the most evil, self-defeating and frustrating of all human obstacles: hatred, greed, and oppression.
In our essays, our probes, we must finally envision and consummate the biggest possible prize, the summum bonum, the greatest Good, i.e., Supermind - an existential synthesis, a dynamically comprehensive, fully-integrated consciousness...the final leap to a New world, a New man - the supramental transformation and creation!
