My dad, who turned 73 in May, is entering hospital in the morning.

Officially it's for haernia, and he should be out by the evening, but you never know how these things go, and I know that he always said that if ever something bad came up he wouldn't want to know.

I haven't had the opportunity to talk to my mum without him being around, so maybe I'm just being paranoid, and living abroad doesn't help.

Please pray whatever Higher Power you believe in to protect him, he's the only dad I have.

Chiara

Dear Chiara,
I will light a candle for your dad, and pray that his operation will be straightforward and without complications.

It's perfectly normal for you to worry about him, but most operations are without incident.

Let us know how he goes on.

Love, Jude

Dear Chiara, I, too, will light a candle for your dad! I'll keep him in my prayers hoping all will go well. Hernia operations are usually pretty straightforward. Of course, you worry about your dad! I worried when Leon went in for hip replacement surgery. At 92 years it seemed risky to me, but the orthopedic surgeon assured me that he had done this operation on even older people without problems. And Leon did well with his surgery.

Wishing you strength and hope,
Much love,
Edda
