In the course of inner self-development an individual may one day attain a sudden cataclysmic spiritual experience. It is the intuitive awareness of the eternal in man, of the timeless dimension of existence. It seems to involve a complete break with the past. It is the experience of being reborn in an entirely new world. For a person who has been onesided in his religious search - who left unfinished the task of coming to terms with the unconscious psyche with its instinctual urges - this radical experience of spiritual intuition may provide justification for the rejection of nature and society in favour of the timeless. He sees no reconciliation between the world of space-time and the supreme Being which is beyond space and time. In delivering the message of eternity, he denies the values of time.
