Jeni, Lynn said it so well. You and Latrena are in my prayers and I keep lighting candles. This is the season of hope and we all need to hold on to hope.

the new year hasn't brought about the change in latrena that she expressed she wanted, the crack is in total control and frankly i just can't pray any more. i know that God will never let either of us down and he hears my prayers but i just feel really bad and let down at this time. for one last time i pray for God to protect her during this run and protect her from the people especially the men who will use her during this time.please Bring her back and open her eyes to really change her life around especially with her grandbaby on the way, a child that she will never see if she doesn't change

thanks everyone for your prayers, jennifer

Jen, I am so sorry that you feel so bad about Latrena. It is tough to see a friend in so much trouble and not responding to help. I am sure your prayers are not in vain. We are praying with you. I keep lighting candles for her and you (Rena).
Love,  Edda

i am a recovered addict. i can tell you that i also know many others...there is still hope* she is alive. IS there some way her family or you can do an intervention??? sometimes users need this although they will seem to hate you during the intervention...i know ive seen it many a time...but it all works out beautifully in the end...errr..most of the time! that's when the real person you know and love comes back...rehab works wonders and is truly a gift..i fortunantly did NOT have to go as i just used AA as a tool and was willingly to look at my disease on my own after i hit a low about three years ago... i have famous associates and non famous associates that have all been in rehab and it saved their lives and they now have truth and grounding...you can also call the NA or AA hotline ....look them up on the web...you can talk to people live there 24 hours a day and they can give you guidence and direction if you want to do an intervention?! Crack is dangerous...for YOU , you need support it seems...have you considered ALANON...for people involved with people who use...ITS A VERY IMPORTANT PROGRAM! YOU need to learn how to be kind to yourself and surrender gently to the thought that you are powerless over people, places and things...it helped my mother in MANY ways when i was still using and she got better too as she found her trying to help me so much was only depleting her...i was not a bad case, i used alcohol but it was wearing me down and i was drinking too much~like the scenes in the movie sideways...that was me...i have recovered friends that used heroine , crack, coke etc...so recovery is a gift*the stories they tell~ WAOW! When my mom used ALANON her actions towards me changed...that program really helped her take care of herself...what a gift*ALANON takes time though...you would need to commit to going and working the steps at least 1-4x a week ...1x a week is fine if you dont have other time... it is a smart idea it will help you take good care of you and help you release your fears too...my friends that used heavier drugs also had loved ones go and it really helped their assocaites too...ALANON is about YOU TAKING CARE OF YOU...something that is VERY necessary...it is for people who are involved or have been involved and are worried about loved ones who are addicts...its spiritual and it is not based on anything religious but it does call to a higher power or GOD if you will(your own idea of GOD that is) to come to aide.

i hope this helps you in some way.
things can transform...my best advice to you~trust and seek ALANON and call the AA OR NA hotline and ask them about interventions if you have more people that could do it with you...i think interventions take at least two people involved and then the addict.

I will definitely include your friend in my prayers. My friend has gone through meth addiction and is now serving prison time as well. He's been through such a rough time. My family has really struggled with addiction and I've seen the pain it causes, so my heart goes out to anyone who is suffering.
