my family here at gratefulness, although latrena didn't do well this month either, something happen in my life, something else i was praying for , was answered. What this showed me and made me realize is that God does answer prayers but not in our time his. In this situation i had to back off and stick to my guns. This is what i have to do with latrena, God made it clear to me. I have to stop helping her out finacially when she messes up. so now i am asking for your prayers for me to be able to be strong so that i don't continue to enable her as i have done in the past. love to all

Dear Jen, yes, God does answer prayers but not when and in the way we sometimes like. I am glad you had something good happening. Letting go is very difficult; the older you get the more you have to do it and it doesn't get much easier. You are right in not enabling Latrena by rescuing her financially. She may have to really feel the pain of her addiction. It is not always easy to find the balance between supporting someone appropriately and not getting overly invested in them. It hurts, since compassion really means suffering with someone. Most of us like to do something rather than be a presence as needed, which is really more difficult. You have no reason to feel guilty about anything. You have been a good and faithful friend who has done the best you knew and know now.
Wishing you peace,
Love,  Edda

Jeni. Hello. I am sorry you are going through this with Latrena. From personal experience it does hurt to hold back and not enable someone financially when they are caught up in situations that may not be healthy for them. Even though you love and care about them and want them to prosper at a personal level. In time she may realize why you did it. But at the same time remember you are not contributing to the self destructive behaviors which validates your true intentions as her friend. My prayers are with you both.

To my gratefulness family as always thank you for your support and prayers especially when i just can't seem  do it anymore.  i am going away thursday for my grandmother's 99th birthday and my family has invited latrena. She was supposed to be here monday and hasn't gotten here yet . i hope she gets here because she needs a rest from the way she is living. in reality, i feel she won't come because it is her abuser's birthday as well and i am sure he will spend a great deal of money this weekend. anyway i am going totry to  enjoy this trip. i am going to light candles tomorrow for everyone and then resume on monday. love to all

Dear Jen, enjoy your visit with your grandmother. Don't give Latrena the power to spoil it. Whatever she does is her choice. Your family's invitation is a very generous offer. Thank you for lighting candles. I wish you a great time.
Love,  Edda

well this time i am writing to tell you latrena made it to the trip down south and was very helpful to me. i am not going to say that there weren't any stressful times because there were a few but the fact that she came is showing that the prayers are working. She still has so much more she needs to do and be honest about. thank you all for the prayers and support. love to all my gratefulness family and may God bless you all
