“BEING” IN SUMMER Heat fills the air too heavy to breathe; Concrete and asphalt boil and seethe. Crackling thunder, torrential rain; The air is bathed and scrubbed again. Fields and trees full of fruits and berries; Bumble bees; lady bugs; butterfly fairies. Fireflies glow in the evening sky, While cicadas chant their lullaby. The still of night, no whisper, no breeze, As moon light dances round thru the trees. The shadows come, the darkness grows; The nighttime blankets highs and lows. Too soon this summer has come and gone, Nights stretching longer, delaying the dawn. Though never may I know Your reasons, For gifting me with changing seasons, In gratitude toward You I turn; With grateful heart, for You I yearn.
