My son recently deployed to Iraq with the 82nd Airborne Division.  I have to admit that I am scared to death but in the same token proud as heck!  Pls. say prayers for his safe return along with the other soldiers that look at this war as their duty and their jobs!  They are protecting us and we should all honor them.

Dear Joy, welcome to the forum. I can appreciate your mixture of pride and apprehension as you hope for the safety of your son. You will find others on this forum who share your concern for their loved ones. There is a candle group "usaf" where one can light candles for the safety of troops in harm's way. You may want to start your own group. You will find the instructions in the top threads on this forum. I'll keep your son in my prayers and light a candle in the above named group.
Wishing you comfort, strength and hope,
Edda

tokemomma,
What is your son's name so when I lite a candle for him I can put a message out there for him.
I will pray for him as I do for the others that are doing their "jobs" over there.

Your son is among the brave, we owe him and you a great debt and much prayer.  Your son is your hero and a hero to all of us.  My Dad served in WW2 and was always proud of his service.  I hope that some day your son will come home and share this same pride in America that my Dad had throughout his life with his children, your grandchildren as my Dad offered us.  My Mom served during the war also but was not sent overseas.  She is one of few WW2 female vets still around.

What your son is doing is extremely noble, you have every right to be proud of your hero and I am proud of my Dad, my hero.  May God richly bless him for his courage and loyalty to his country, I salute him and am deeply touched by his patriotism and service.

I will say a prayer for your son.

Adding my prayers that your son is protected at all times. I pray for strength and support for all whose lives are affected by wars and discord, may we find a way to reslove all conflict through tolerance and respect. Amen

Hi, Joy,

I certainly pray for the safty return and success in all your son's mission and everyone who serves their on our behalf.

My husband retired a proud Marine, his dad who passed on 2 yrs ago were 2-tour Vietnam vets in the Navy.  People like them are true heros in my book just like your son and his company.

May God bless them all.
