These jewels of wisdom have gone around the net a few times (if you know the author, PLEASE let me know!!!), but I think they will be especially appreciated here. With many blessings and much love, enjoy and share the following:

People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, or to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend; and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrong doing on your part or their's, maybe just an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on.

When people come into your life for a SEASON, it is because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! But... only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; those things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person/people (anyway); and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.

It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Welcome! I apologize for taking so long to welcome you. I, too, have often read these jewels of wisdom but don't have a clue as to who the author is. Thank you for this special post. It brought to mind all those in my own life who walked across my threshold for a reason but had long since been forgotten.

There were those who were there for a only a season and who during that sometimes "short" season have added a special "flavor" and growth to my life experience.

For all of these, I am very grateful for they have touched my life and I have grown.

Finally, there are those who are for a lifetime-- who have walked with me through good times and bad, through joys and sorrows, through successes and disappointments, those who I know that no matter what, they are as close as a phone call or email and no matter what or when, will ALWAYS BE there--those who have so totally touched my life with the presence of God.

Your post has been a real gift to remind me that in all of my life, I have never walked alone. God has always provided the "physical" presence to remind me of our God's presence.

I am still searching for the source of "Reason, Season, or a Lifetime". I had originally thought it was a quote from one of the poems of Rainer Maria Rilke, but haven't had the time to thoroughly check online for the famous quotes from his poetry. Since you enjoy writing poetry, you might want to check out his short book "Letters to a Young Poet." It was written in German but later translated into English.

Websites with this quote on seem to agree that the author is unknown. J

I kinda figured it would be an 'author unkown' result, but I figured this was as good a place as any to ask!

Pondering that point a bit further....

What if the author didn't want any credit? Maybe it was just the author's way of contributing something beautiful to the world for no other reason other than 'because.'

"Practice random kindness and commit senseless acts of beauty!"

Too True!
