Betty, that quote reminds me of one I have on my wall. I was sure I had it on my computer, but can't find it. I expect you may already be familiar with it, but will type it out again soon & post it.

Jude, your post sounds like one of my many "senior moments. If it works the same for you as it does here, when you are looking for something else, you will find the quote that you couldn't find when you were looking for it. Please post it when it decides to stop hiding from you and pops its little head out.

Have a blessed weekend.

Betty, here it is. It wasn't on my computer, so can only imagine I took it straight from an old email which is no longer on my PC.
I hope the gremlins  are in retreat now & you are having a good weekend.  Love Jude

There is:

no difficulty that enough love will not conquer;

no disease that enough love will not heal;

no door that enough love will not open;

no gulf that enough love will not bridge;

no wall that enough love will not throw down;

no sin that enough love will not redeem….

It makes no difference how deeply seated

may be the trouble;

how hopeless the outlook;

how muddled the tangle;

how great the mistake;

a sufficient realization of love will dissolve it all.

If only you could love enough you would be the

happiest and most

powerful being in the world.

Dear Jude, thank you for the beautiful quote. The signature on all your posts really summarizes it,

In search of "meditative places" on the web to list in our parish bulletin for Advent, I "stumbled" on the page below. Solomon, When I saw the title, I immediately remembered your post on gratitude for a glass of cold water. Whether we are Christians, Buddhists, whatever religious practices we affiliate with, the value of the concept holds for all.

At the moment I´m very fascinated with the idea of wabi sabi. It originates in Japan http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/japanese-aesthetics/#3 it is a form of philosophy that is hard to put in words, just some keywords for it out of a book (Wabi Sabi, The art of everyday life by Diane Durston) I´m reading at the moment: impermanence, imperfection, simplicity, humility, sincerity, harmony, purity, tranquility, contentment...
Since I am quite a perfectionist this is very healing for me, that there is a beauty in imperfection and there is life and growth as well as decay.
Things which are old and used have more beauty than brandnew ones.

"Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That´s how the light gets in."          Leonard Cohen

Love,
Barbara

Welcome back Barbara G. Your poem is so much in line with one of the books by Henri Nouwen called "Wounded Healer." Thank you for posting it.

You book
quote:

Wabi Sabi, The art of everyday life by Diane Durston)
sounds like it has much to offer. Please consider posting some of the main concepts of it on our thread "Books for which I am Grateful." It is currently the seventh thread on this forum and was begun by one of your neighboring countrymen, Juliana who lives in Austria.

Hi Imenuff,

I´ve read some books of Henri Nouwen "Life of the beloved" and "The inner voice of love" but not "The wounded healer". I feel very related to his thoughts, as he was so honest about his own spiritual struggles and his difficult relationship with his father.

I hadn´t noticed yet that there thread about books, I sure will post something about the book "wabi sabi".

Love,
Barbara

For all of our visitors and those in this forum who do not get the Gratefulness "Word for the Day," today's seems so very appropriate for anyone who is now in that place where it seems difficult to "see the light at the end of the tunnel"
quote:

One must have chaos in oneself in order to give birth to a dancing star.
Friedrich Nietzshe

And so we "live the questions" and surrender to the "chaos" in order that the star may be born dancing..

NAMASTE!
(For those who are new to this forum, "Namaste" is a Hindu word which, in the realm of spirituality means, I bow to the Life Spirit within you that is also the Life Spirit within me

I can see why they shortened it.

Solomon, You are right!So often it is difficult to put a comment or phrase from another culture into ours or vice versa. When "Namaste" is used in India, the greeting is said with hands crossed over the heart and a small bow. Can you imagine the ramifications if this greeting were to be said and meant world-wide!

May your week off contain within it's wrappings the gift of a new job.

"People travel to wonder at the height of the mountains, at the huge waves of the seas, at the long course of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars, and yet they pass by themselves without wondering."

Betty, this wonderful quote reminds me of Psalm 139:13-14

"You created every part of me,
knitting me in my mother's womb.
For such handiwork, I praise you.
Awesome this great wonder!"

A quick post in the midst! Every Christmas, my husband and I make "sayings" transferred to parchment and framed for his family as Christmas gifts. In our search for something special and meaningful to use this year, we came upon the following:

"Start With Yourself
Author Unknown

When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of changing the world. As I grew older and wiser, I discovered the world would not change, so I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my country.

But, it too, seemed immovable.

As I grew into my twilight years, in one last desperate attempt, I settled for changing only my family, those closest to me, but alas, they would have none of it.

And now as I lie on my deathbed, I suddenly realize: If I had only changed my self first, then by example I would have changed my family.

From their inspiration and encouragement, I would then have been able to better my country and, who knows, I may have even changed the world."
"Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.

NAMASTE!

     There's a great quiet strength for me in being able to reach out my heart to help others with their pain and confusion.  There's a powerful spirit of healing in knowing that, despite what some people are doing to themselves and others, there are many, many hearts and souls reaching out in love and caring.  Every day I allow the awareness of that to be the foundation on which I build my day.  Then if the day is a painful one, I know it's not what I will take into tomorrow.  The Devine Spirit, for me my Goddess, strengthens and carries me through the dark times, but she expects me to stand on my own two feet and be the words I say about caring and love.  I'm grateful that I can see the beautiful light of love in the world.

Joe, I agree with you here. There are many caring people spreading love in a sometimes hostile world. These people, including yourself, are the lightworkers, trying to bring the light back into our world and into the lives of people.

Being able to tap into a higher energy helps to prevent us being 'burnt out' when we reach out with our hearts to help others. What light workers often forget is that they also sometimes need help. We all need each other, and I believe we have all been put on earth to help each other along and to learn just what Love really is.

Jude
