Solomon -> "Every misery you miss is another blessing" (7/5/2007 6:24:01 AM)

I'm finding the statement "Every misery you miss is another blessing" really interesting right now.

I try to focus on the good things in life, such as having food, shelter, clothes, a filter coffee maker, etc, but I'm starting to realise more and more that there are an awful lot of really bad things that happen in life, that haven't happened to me. I watched a video about the Boxing Day tsunami, and it struck me really forcibly how terrible a disaster it was. How lucky I am to live in a country where natural disasters like this don't happen very often. It's a misery I missed, and that in itself is a real blessing.

What miseries have you missed, that have blessed you?

Solomon,

What a very special statement of "the wisdom of Solomon." Each time we hear the news or read a newspaper, you have reminded each of us of a real reason to express our "gratefulness" because we have not been involved in situations like these.

I am sure your strawberries were thoroughly enjoyed by all who received them. Each time I eat a strawberry, a little prayer goes up for you.
