Lynn, I'm so sorry you are ill.  I thinking of you and lighting candles for you. 

Today I'm grateful for rain.  I'm so sorry for all those affected by Gustav, and at the same time grateful for the rain he brought to my area, we needed it so badly.

Status: offline 		Today I am grateful for the healing powers of sleep...even half an hour. It was needed.

I am also grateful for the gift of friendship from the angel of computers who successfully sorted a problem I have been battling with for months. It reminds me how interdependent we all are and makes me feel grateful and blessed.

Last night I fed this same angel who was feeling unwell, and sent him home with cough linctus and a hot water bottle. Today I received my return gift

Status: offline 		Tonight I am grateful for remaining calm when the appliance repairman came to fix the freezer, in spite of his being very short tempered.
Lori, we too have gotten some very welcome rain after it had been extremely dry for most of August. I am also grateful for a long phone call from a very dear friend.

Status: offline 		Well done Betty! It beats me how tradesmen can afford to be short-tempered! Not good for business.

I wish I could be grateful for my rain It has again been one of the wettest Summers on record and I've had 2 drenchings this week on the way to school and back.

But I am grateful today that I decided, on the way home from school, to buy a home-cooked steak and kidney pie from a local butcher. Some comfort food.

Also, I am grateful for the laugh I had from 5 effusive and apologetic emails sent to me by the website responsible for the problem my friend helped me sort yesterday.

Apparently "it has been a great experience to serve an outstanding client like you."   lol
 
I wish I could say the same about doing business with them.

Status: offline 		This morning I am grateful for a cool dark morning which gives the first hint of Autumm and the childhood memories of the piles of fragrant leaves burning, the huge old copper kettle boiling all day over an open fire in the back yard, and ending in that very prized possession of jars of apple butter sealed and stored for the winter. The very best part being taking pieces home made bread on a long stick and "wiping" the kettle clean with this "washing cloth" of fresh bread, one form of "doing the dishes" that we always loved.
Jude,all of us here always knew you are outstanding. Apparently it just took your website much longer to learn that. A true kindred spirit--
why do problems always seem less difficult with some good "comfort food"? The only problem for me is, all that comfort food has decided to take up permanent residence and produce all those bulges that I wish weren't there. I probably need to do much more of Edda's walking.

Status: offline 		Betty, thank you so much for sharing your memories.  Yours remind me of some of my favorite memories of autumn.  There's nothing quite like the smell of wet, fallen leaves; and it always brings to mind many wonderful memories of my grandfather, who used to rake and pile up the leaves, and stand by and smoke his pipe while he let my cousin and me jump in the leaves.  My grandmother would scold him for letting us jump in them, and then he'd rake them up and let us do it again!  I associate that smell so closely with that memory.  My grandfather was a wonderful, quiet, peaceful man.  I feel grateful for that vivid memory and his love.  Thanks, Betty!

Status: offline 		Lori and Betty Im grateful your autumn memories and stoires triggered one of my most cherished moments sitting in the UIC auditorium with Leo Buscaglia at the podium telling us all to love the leaves and how he would drive his neighbors crazy by saving up all his fallen autumn leaves then bag them and spread them out on his floors to experience the colors, the smell and the sound of walking on them Meeting Leo was like being embraced by a family member Im so blessed to have the memory. Im praying for Lynn, T.O, Juliana Jude , Edda our new members and all here this will be my last post for a bit I will be meditating and praying all day and evening tomorrow mostly to calm my nerves and fears re: my dental procedures I would ask for prayers if you can it will be Monday 8:00am Im placing my dentist who is working from his heart and compassion to help me in the hands of God as I do me for the best possible outcome and healing

We are all blessed to have this wonderful place where we can share our daily lives and friendships and love for each other. I will have you all with me tomorrow in spirit, and I know I will be able to feel all the warmth you will be sending. I will be surrounded in the healing light. Status: offline 		Dear Lynn and Barbara, I was thinking of you Barbara, during my long journey to and from hospital, and while I was waiting........and waiting..........and waiting.

I guess the procedure is over for you now. I hope it was much less of an ordeal than you were anticipating, and you are feeling OK. I send you healing.

Also to you Lynn, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for your surgery, that it will be trouble free and successful, and that it will mean you will start to feel better.

Today I am grateful that another journey to the eye hospital is behind me, and that there is no change in my eyes. The doctor has changed my eye drops in the hopes there will be change for the better next time.
Having seen some very sad cases at the eye hospital I am grateful that I can see.

I am grateful for good bus drivers who have a difficult job manoeuvring large buses and coaches around small villages.

Status: offline 		Tonight I hope that our "patients", Lynn and Barbara, are recovering from their procedures  and that everything went well.

Jude, I sympathize with you on all that waiting you had to do. My strategy is to take a book or magazine with me I so much enjoy that I am almost sorry, when I am called in.

I am grateful for an interesting Afternoon Book Club session. The book was, "The Emancipator's Wife, A Novel of Mary Todd Lincoln" by Barbara Hambly. It makes us realize that problems recur in different time periods under different guises. It is a big book but well worth reading.
