Today I am grateful to have a day away from the many chores of lately. A birthday party which had helped to take away some of the built up stress of trying to make things perfect and to lighten my load by getting rid of many things never used and I held onto for years. Do you ever get done doing this? I do not think so, but my space feels bigger in every room and I can finally sit in my basement, I have never done that, purging of uneeded items has made it so much more comfortable.
Do we really need all the stuff we acquire or things we desire? When one becomes self fulfilled, self actualized is it in part because they no longer need stuff? God and love, is what is needed. Happiness and fulfillment come from within. It brings more to one, than stuff that is bought and paid for and later realizing, you never really needed it and could have done without.
Thousands of years ago life was different there was not stuff like now, they were happy with what they had but always requiring more to have self preservation. Just thinking out loud... I am grateful for this thinking of now, different from years ago.

God bless us
Marie

Dear All,

I find it hard to say I am grateful for a morning full of sunshine and the singing of birds, when I hear in the news about tornadoes in Missouri and Oklahoma... My dictionary says "violent storms OF SMALL EXTENT", so hopefully they have missed you who live there! (Although of course I send my prayers for people who have been injured.) On the other hand: Isn´t it comforting to know that while in some places storms may be raging, everything is calm and peaceful in another part of the world? It all exists simultaneously, and it keeps shifting...
Whit Monday is a religious as well as a public holiday in my country, so I have quiet time to remember all of you.

Be well! Blessings!

I am grateful for all the special wishes of this past week, birthday remembrances from very dear ones, Mother's day and Anniversary remembrances and all the memories those days surfaced of times both very good and very painful but which "all came to pass" The good ones have been stored in the memory closet and there is gratitude for both and for the grace to make it through the difficult ones and see them as real moments of growth.
Marie, I am not sure one ever gets finished with purging of the unneeded items. Perhaps it is because as we grow and increase in age, wisdom and grace,
quote:

When one becomes self fulfilled, self actualized is it in part because they no longer need stuff? God and love, is what is needed. Happiness and fulfillment come from within. It brings more to one, than stuff that is bought and paid for and later realizing, you never really needed it and could have done without
. A very wise comment on life. The older I get, the more I "get rid" of only saving and marking "things" that the guys have asked for as keepsakes. It always amazes me that when "stuff" is gotten rid of, shared, and given away, it is always replaced interiorly by more "space" for the Holy One to reside. To me, it seems such a gift of growing older --all the "stuff" I was sure I just had to have or couldn't live without, just no longer really matters. Blessings on your lightening the load.
Barbara, dear, so well put in wishing special blessings and honor to all the most precious aspects of Motherhood whether or not one has actually been a biological mother. Blessings to you as you continue on your new journey.
Edda, prayers continue for you both. Your prayer group sounds like such a very gifted community of faith and a real blessing to all its members.
Juliana, Your thoughts have been experienced especially when the mind wanders to all the suffering in Iraq, Burma, Darfur, and all those worldwide who are enduring such devastating hardships and brutality. True grace to remember them and spend some time sending the peace and joy of your spirit to them with loving thoughts that some little blessing this day will ease the pain that surrounds them.

May we all spend a week of awareness of how much we have been blessed and share those blessings with all who cross our paths.

Today I am grateful for the for sale sign being posted in my yard. I have wanted to do this for a few years now, finally I have taken the steps to do it. I am excited and a bit nervous, but God will get us through. Change is not easy but being accepting of wherever you are or going to be and remaining optimistic are important. It reminds me of the story of the older man going to the retirement home and he was very happy and someone asked him why he was happy, because he had not even seen his new room. His reply was he could be happy anywhere.

God bless

Marie,

My best wishes for selling your house accompany you. T.O.´s pictures remind me of my two (short) stays in the US. I was completely taken aback by seeing those signs in the yards of houses to sell. This is not done here in this easy way, we have to advertise  houses for sale in newspapers. You Americans also move to another place more easily. When I was in the US (Georgia), I used to joke saying that I´d buy one of the houses and move there. Good luck to you!

Oh, I quite forgot to say what I am grateful for today: a burst of new energy - everything being done easily and smoothly, naturally. You certainly know this state, when one is so motivated that all obstacles seem easy to overcome. I am grateful that moods keep changing!

Wishing you all the same,
Juliana

Today I am grateful to the beautiful weather, and to my calmness in having to encounter my ex-husband again, even when he was rude and irritating. His unkind words used about his brother's widow are hard to take, but I realize he is not a happy man himself.

I am grateful that there was some of the old closeness between myself and my Son also, when we talked about his father's family. I've been able to forgive him for excluding me from the funeral of his uncle. Small steps.

I am so grateful for all the prayers from everyone here. My pain has finally left me. I feel so good.
And I was surprised and delighted when my long time friend came up to visit for two days, she brought along her grandson, who is 10. We had a wonderful time. We played Monopoly and laughed thru the whole game, my face was so sore. I haven't laughed like that in a very long time. Even our dog, Jessie, had fun. Angel played ball with her, ran around the yard, played fetch and gave her lots of hugs. They were great medicine for all of us. I am grateful God gave me Carol for my friend!!
Prayers and blessings to all. May all your needs be answered.

Dear Lynn,
I am grateful for your good news! I can almost hear you laugh , especially as I am also having fun with my great-nephew, Aki. It is wonderful to look at the world through the eyes of a child. Everything becomes new and fresh and full of surprise.

Love and best wishes,
Juliana

Dear Lynn, I am so pleased to hear you are free from pain and feeling well. It sounds as if you had a real tonic with your friend's visit. "Laughter is inner jogging" so you got some exercise too.

Lots of Love, Jude

Today I'm sooooooooooo grateful that I stayed calm and patient with my ex-husband who came on the scene yet again!!!!
To think I faught long and hard to keep him, but a higher power obviously knew best. Now I realize what a lucky escape I had, and how well my life has progressed in the last 10 years, despite life's problems. (or perhaps because of them)
Apparently my ex-husband has been married again briefly to a young oriental girl (years younger than our daughter)who has left him for someone else. Hearing the awful way he spoke of her, and the names he calls her and her new man made me feel both disgusted and sorry for him. He believes himself to be deeply spiritual, but the opposite is more the truth. Five minutes in his company was enough for me, and as he is likely to be around more now, I need to learn patience and just let his arrogance go over my head.

Jude

Jude - Good for you! x

I am so grateful to the young man in our local supermarket who brough my 85 year old mother home safely today after she had decided to venture out by herself to buy groceries even though my sister and I prepare all her meals!.
She has restricted mobility and memory problems, so despite being alarmed when I got the phone call to work from one of the carers who support her during the day, saying that the house was unlocked and mum was missing, it had a GOOD outcome!. I am actually very grateful too that my mum still has some of her original spirit and courage within to give it a go!

Dear Glenys, I am glad your mother is safe. I can only imagine your fright when you were told that she was missing. My imagination would run wild under such circumstances. I can only remember my worries, when Leon was still able to go out alone, and I would come home and he had gone out without leaving me a note. I am grateful with you for these kind-hearted guardian angels!

Much love,
Edda

Wow, what a relief Glenys that your Mom was safe. I can't imagine the fear you must have been going thru. Bless those angels.

Prayers and blessings to all for your concerns.

I am so grateful that I was able to give my house a good cleaning. Tossed out a lot, looks much better now. Thinning the herd. I have way too many knick-knacks, ( too many to dust all the time. lol )
Now to have a little extra energy to try and paint the living room ceiling, another chore long overdue. I feel like I lost so much being so sick for those 3 months and then that pain I had, I need to make up for lost time.
Being careful tho not to do too much. I take breaks and drink water and then some delicious green tea. ;-)

Dear Lynn, I am grateful with you that you are feeling better and have more energy to do what you need, and better yet, what you like to do. I, too, have an excess of dust collectors that need to be weeded out, if I ever get around to it!

Wishing you the best of everything,

Much love and warm hugs,
Edda
