Bahais believe in a principle they call Progressive Revelation which proposes; each age is gifted with a manifestation of God starting with Abraham, Elijah, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, Zaoraster, Mohamed and so on down to Bahalluah. It is my personal belief that each of us is a manifestation of God, as spelled out in the Upanishads; something far older than all of us.  Only, some of us are more eloquent than others. Be that as it may, the following three websites lend credence to this concept and should bear much fruit for thought in keeping with the subject of this post.

And, of course, one can find many books which provide comparisons such as this:

I submit these posts, not with the intention of changing anyone`s belief systems but, to illustrate how we are all unified as one.

It matters not the name of your donkey as long as he or she, transports you to the top of the mountain.

In the words of the zen master to the hot dog vendor; `Make me one with everything.`

If you believe in Reincarnation, who knows.....they may be the same soul.  J

Dear Richard,
Thank you for this cornucopia of references to the teachings of the great incarnate spirits in human history. No matter how different they are, they have much in common. There is a great deal to be learned and discovered! I read some time ago in two of the books referenced, Thich Nhat Hahn: "LIving Buddha, Living Christ", and "Jesus and Buddha, Parallel Sayings", edited by Marcus Borg, and can recommend them.
With every good wish,
Edda

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and words.

I feel I just have warn you that I intend to continue my contributions untill I sense that all are content to shed their thoughts of anger or contempt; until all have given up on carrying their heavy baggage of past victories or crushing defeats.  Happiness is where the heart should be.  Accept what is and you will have more awareness of the sanctity of life.   (I trust I am not just preaching to the choir and that those in need are getting some of this !!)

"We are disturbed not by what happens to us, but by our thoughts about what happens."   - Epictetus

Remember, life is 98% attitude; don't worry, be happy !!!

Rejoice in the succcess of others, see progress in the unity of humanity.

Thank you Edda, I'll try to come regular, but sometimes I have so many things to do....[:'(]..... Do you have a board, where I can introduce myself? So you know all a little bit of me? Here in Holland it's twenty minutes after 12 in the night, so I go to my bed and hope it's a wonderful day tomorrow again.....[;)] Lots of love, [image]http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g112/vonnie1947/persoonlijk/vonniehartgif.gif[/image]

Hildegard -> RE: Were Jesus and Buddha on the same path (8/11/2007 11:05:56 PM)

Dear Vonnie, I am not quite sure what you mean by a board, but you can add to your profile which can be read by anyone interested. Perhaps the best way would be to click on New Post, starting a new thread, and tell us about yourself and your interests and concerns. We all would be happy to hear from you and respond!
Wishing you a beautiful Sunday,
Love,  Edda
