I am sorry that I haven't been around for some time, but I haven't forgotten you.

I need some advice please.........

My prayer list grows longer and longer, for family, friends, strangers and the general state of our beautiful planet.
I say a quiet prayer during the day, it just happens, however, I wonder how all of you pray.  It may seem a daft question, but I do offer all my concerns to God.  Yet I feel compelled to name everyone, I know that the Lord's Prayer is the most beautiful prayer of all, yet it doesn't seem enough, with so much going on.

What do you think, I am in rather a muddle, as you will be able to tell by this post.

God Bless all of you.

Love

yorkiemary

Hi Mary,
Nice to hear from you again. Don't know if I would be of any help here, but I'll tell you what I usually do.

There is often one or maybe two important people or things which need prayers each day and I prioritize. There is no way we can give EVERYTHING our full attention on each occasion, so that's my way of coping. The most important on that day get my full attention.

Sometimes I write people down in a prayer book and then either name them individually if I have time, or ask for help/healing for all in the book. A bit like putting people's names into a Distant Healing book, which is how I started it.

As I've said before, intention is all, and if it's your intention to pray for all your concerns, all of them will be prayed for, whether you have named them all or not.

I also have a little sacred space in my living room with candles, crystals, Buddha statuette, incense, angel cards, photos etc, etc. on it. Candles are dedicated to individual things or people, and it's a focus for me even while I'm watching TV.

Then lately, I've been lighting a few candles on this site before I go to bed.

I hope this is of some help.  J

Mary,

I forgot to say how profound I have found your signature. It made me feel completely different about how I look (or more often don't look) at people.

Love  J

Dear Mary,
You are asking a very good question. I don't think there is one right answer. I became aware that I was getting rather compulsive about lighting a candle for everyone I had promised. The list was getting way too long. The limits on how many candles we may light cured me of that even though it was an easy way to remember everybody and everything. The intention to put all these concerns before God is what is important; this is what I do, and then mention those I am especially concerned about. Often I hold up my concerns in silence. Afterall, God is not the one who needs reminding! During the day, when I think of this or that person, I may say a brief prayer for them.
I agree with you, the Our Father is THE prayer and it IS enough, when intentionally said. It is the only one Jesus gave us and contains everything necessary. The number of words we use is not important!
Sometimes I go to the candle group "ALL" and light a candle for all who have asked for my prayers.

I am sure you can find your own way of praying for others trusting that God knows your heart and intentions,

With much love,
Edda

Thank you so much, Buttington and Edda, both of you have helped me to really clear my mind, it is simple really, God knows what is within our hearts, our concerns, our love for family, friends and mankind.

I shall say The Lord's Prayer and then offer up to God, everyone for whom I have concerns (for want of a better word) and light a candle for ALL.

God Bless you,

yorkiemary.

I'm really glad you asked, because I had been wondering the same thing.
