The following is the Beliefnet Prayer of the day for today:

Prayer for Peace in Troubled Times

Dear Lord, in these troubled times make your presence known

to all the peoples around the world so that they may see peace

as the only way to salvation. Replace the anger and violence

in our hearts with joy and tranquility and help us to seek the

good in everyone. Cause us all to realize that without you we

can do nothing that will bring us peace and joy.

Thank you for hearing and answering our prayers. Amen.

Dear Riard,

Thank you for that - very pertinent.

Today I'm struggling to see any good in the person who shot 2 of my local buzzards. I'd been wondering why I hadn't seen or heard the youngster.

I pray that this person learns to see the beauty of nature. J

J: I'm so sorry to hear of your buzzards. I can't understand violence toward animals (or birds) either.

Richard, thank you for sharing that beautiful prayer for peace. It helps remind me that peace starts in the hearts of all of us as individuals.

Listening to the news and reading in the newspapers about the situation in Burma, reminded me of this prayer. Praying for peaceful change all over the world.amen

Hi Celtic Star,
I too watched with a heavy heart as the monks and thier supporters struggled. I immediately started praying as I have learned through experience that when I am most helpless to take action prayer works to inspire action. I could not help thinking back to Wednesday evening as I sat in my meditation center with our monk how peaceful their life was, it goes to show that pacifism always comes with a price. However, when we look we can see the social changes made by others such as Ghandi and continue to hope the current struggles will find a peaceful end. I will continue to pray...
