I was rereading some inspirational quotes in this thread and came acroos this one Betty had posted. It personally spoke to me and so I thought I would repost it. Thanks Betty and all who post here.

"I beg you...to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer."

Barbara,

Thank you for re-posting this quote by our Austrian poet, Rilke. Returning from a weekend retreat, I´d like to  add that the answers do come in due time, although sometimes after what may seem a very long time indeed.
As a fruit of my days of quiet, let me share this with you:

I believe that
good is stronger than evil,
love stronger than hatred,
pardon stronger than vengeance.

I believe that
Redemption is deeper than transgression,
Grace more innate than corruption,
more original than sin.

I believe that
Redemption has transformed Man down to his depths,
that is has radically re-created and re-made his heart and soul and mind.

I believe that
Grace reaches Man down to his roots,
penetrates his marrow, into the depths of his being.

I believe in the goodness of man,
beyond his falsehood and hypocrisy,
beyond his malice and wickedness,
beyond his harshness and selfishness.

I believe
that man is fundamentally good,
better than what he does,
better than what he says,
finer than what he seems.

I believe
that in the depths of Man´s heart,
there is nothing but love and tenderness,
goodness and forgiveness,
openness and surrender.

I believe
that in knowing his goodness,
Man will realize it.

Henri Boulad

Amen to all that, Juliana!

Today I am grateful for another 8 hours work from my computer angel. (I'm goggle-eyed.....don't know what he feels like! )

I am also grateful that parts of the house are being decorated. (not mine, sadly)

Betty, we've had torrential rain for several days and nights with some sun and blue sky moments in between!! I don't want heat and humidity, but some sunshine would be nice.

Welcome back, Juliana!

Thank you for this beautiful expression of faith in the "original goodness" of human beings, and in the redemption of their failings. To this I can only add "Amen"!

Here is some more of Henri Boulad´s faith. How can we bear the adversities in life without nourishing this hope in us?

I believe
that some day evil and destruction,
war and carnage
will vanish and fade away.

I believe
that some day every human being
will eat his fill of bread and love.

I believe
in a totally different world,
a world fully renewed, transformed and transfigured.

I believe
that this totally different world
grows day after day
within ourselves and is already here.

I believe
that the tiny little seed of Love
will sooner or later grow into a huge tree.

I believe
that our hope in a better Man
generates and begets him,
that our hope in a better world
arouses and creates it.

I believe
that peace is possible beyond war,
beyond vengeance and hate,
beyond violence and horror.

Juliana

Let me share some more of Henri Boulad´s uplifting beliefs with you.

I believe
that hatred can be transcended
and war abolished.

I believe
that evil is not a fate
nor misfortune a destiny.

I believe
that the powers of righteousness
will defeat and conquer those of wickedness
and that Love will prevail.

I believe
that some day people of all races
will live like brothers and sisters

and mankind will become one family.

I believe
that some day borders will disappear,
barriers fall apart
and men will reunite for ever.

I believe
that some day enemies will embrace each other,
eat from the same dish
and drink from the same cup.

Juliana,

Henri Boulad certainly has hope rooted in deep faith that "all will be well and all manner of things will be well", as Juliana of Norwich said.

I pray that we all may be gifted with such hope,

Edda

In the words of Francis of Assisi (with a bit of poetic license) --"and let all those beliefs come into fruition by beginning in me."

Thank you for adding this, Betty!

I am well aware that facts as we are experiencing them daily seem to contradict such hopeful visions. Tidying up my desk, however, I found a newspaper clipping with this quote:

"The world belongs to those who offer greater HOPE."
- Teilhard de Chardin

Just received this in my morning emails.

A Solution Will Present Itself
Problems are simply challenges waiting for solutions to meet them. The two are partners. Think with resolve that a solution will present itself and it will.

Flowers of Happiness and Peace
The whole world is thirsty for a drop of love. Shower love on those who are thirsty in their hearts with the flowers of happiness and peace. May the forest of honey of the mind be fragrant, and may the birds of peace chirp in the garden of your mind. For everyone have these good wishes day and night.

For Lynn and all of you, whether you go on vacation or spend the summer at home, these African Blessings (thank you for translating, Edda!):

"God bless you!   May God fill your feet with dance and your arms with strength.   May God fill your heart with tenderness and your eyes with laughter.   May God fill your ears with music and your nose with fragrances.   May God fill your mouth with jubilation and your heart with joy.   May God give you ever anew the grace of the desert: Still, fresh water and new hope.   May God give us all ever anew strength to give hope a new face.   May the Lord bless you. Amen."

Hello. This has long inspired my soul, I hope so for someone out there as well . . .

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Welcome to the forum, Mary Ellen. Thank you for your post. It provides much food for thought and questioning especially, it seems for women
quote:

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
So often it seems that if one allows that ADEQUACY to surface beyond the subconscious, it will bring life/friends/family into total transition to what, we do not know. Other times one has experienced really obnoxious individuals who never hesitate to emphatically pronounce to the world how powerful they have created their self-made persona to be without realizing that the talents are God-given.

Jude, I especially like
quote:

A Solution Will Present Itself Problems are simply challenges waiting for solutions to meet them. The two are partners. Think with resolve that a solution will present itself and it will.
So often, it is my own need to "solve" that messes things up, rather than waiting for/allowing the solution to present itself. So much easier said than done.
Juliana, may your blessings on others be returned to you.
Barbara, may your concert be balm for the spirit.

When of thy mortal goods thou find theyself bereft, And from the goodly store two loaves alone are left...Sell one, and with the dole buy hyacinths to feed thy soul.
